Review of The Brick

There aren't a lot of truly "Neighborhood Bars" in Beijing, but this is one. Some reviews say it's too far away, or too small, in the Winter it's too smokey, on the weekends it's too crowded... whatever. If you're in the area, or you're stressed out, miss home, need a beer or not-overpriced cocktail, etc. you might find the Brick is exactly what you've been looking for. Drinks are worth the prices, and they always use real name-brand alcohol. Beer selection is decent. They don't serve food anymore, but all the Shuangjing eateries deliver to the bar. (Lily's American Diner, just a few doors down, even delivers plated food - no soggy fries with your takeout!) Outdoor seating in the summer is great for people watching. Don't worry about coming alone, just strike up a conversation with literally anyone else in the place. Reliable quality, casual atmosphere, loyal regulars.... everything that makes the difference between "a bar in the neighborhood," and "the neighborhood bar."

Three cheers for that!
