I've been to Qmex a couple of times and thought it was a bit unnecessarily over priced, so my fiancee and I figured it wasn't for us.

Then a couple of weeks ago a friend of ours opens a groupd chat on wechat for a large group to go to Qmex together, and we accepted the invitation. Our friend made a reservation in the afternoon for later that evening for a large group of 20-25 people. I checked on the restaurant's website for offers, where I learned that there were half price pizzas as well as half price mojitos and margeritas, as well as a live band. Wahay!!

My fiancee and I arrived first and we were greeted by a nice man named Ryan before the staff rearranged the tables for our group and we sat. We ordered our mojitos, and learned (from Ryan, who was very coutreous, despite the disastrous evening) that the website was outdated from months ago and drinks were full price. Then he said that the first round would be half price, and each subsequent round would be regular price. Fair enough.

Our group dribbled in and we ordered food at around half seven or 7:45. As the pizzas were half price, our table ordered a lot of them. This was where the mess began.

First we were told that the restaurant 'ran out of pizzas'. (I'm not sure how that can happen on a night when pizzas were on offer, but I digress) afterwards they informed us that we could order burritos at half price. We tried for close to an hour to get all of our orders retaken, while some of our group who had received their food had already eatn and some were leaving (it was getting close to 9). Once we had ordered our burritos, a friend of ours from another group approached our table, and when we asked how his meal went he said 'We wanted pizzas, but the waiter said that you guys had ordered too many pizzas and were making the service slow.'

...I don't like being complained about, but at this stage we were famished and just wanted to eat and leave. Another 20 minutes passed, and some people had received half of their orders (salads but no sides, sometimes no cutlery, one pizza for three-four people). Some more time passed and a waiter arrived with the pizza we originally had ordered, saying that they suddenly did have enough and that now the burritos weren't coming. .... ok then.

While I understand that a large group can cause chaos in a restaurant, we did book ahead and give them enough details to prepare, we did our research. We also didn't appreciate being complained about to other customers, not receiving our food on time as well as some food that was cancelled came over an hour later, food taking close to two hours to arrive, not together etc.

The whole fiasco could have been remedied with more staff, but it was just an overpriced disaster in the end, and I don't think I'll be going back. That said, Ryan the waiter tried well to fix the evening, but in the end the problems went too far.

All in all I'd say, skip Qmex, go to Home plate or the local.
