I went to the Everbright in Wanliu because I needed to make a wire transfer to pay for tuition. It was my first wire transfer and my Chinese isn't great, so although I knew there would be fees, I didn't know what they would be. I have friends that have used Everbright before, so I thought it would be a good place to go.

It was a bit of trouble from the beginning, but I ended up bringing the required USD for my tuition to the bank on Tuesday. I told them how much I needed to transfer for my tuition and they took out quite a bit in fees. After I left to go back to work (all done during a break), I got a call from the teller telling me I didn't pay the bank's fee. Annoyed, I told them that I'd be back the next morning since I had to get back to work. I went in early Wednesday morning and paid the bank fee, an extra trip to pay an additional 30 RMB fee the teller forgot to mention after about 35 USD in other fees already taken from Everbright.

Thursday afternoon, I checked my school's website and found that I was short 18 USD. I double checked the amount transferred with my Everbright receipt and confirmed that the amount received was 18 USD less than the amount sent.

I called the Everbright number on my card and told a Everbright representative about my issue. After 30 wasted minutes, he told me he couldn't access my information, something he apparently was not aware of when I first brought up my issue at the very beginning of my call. It took a bit more back and forth to get the Everbright representative to finally give me the Wanliu bank's number.

I then called the Wanliu Everbright branch and they told me they would have to check on the issue and call me back, which I was not satisfied with, so I wasted more time and made another trip to the Everbright bank, my third since making the wire transfer. When I got to the bank, I was told there was another fee which the teller forgot to mention to me, which is why my school was short 18 USD. If I wanted, they could help me make another transfer and I wouldn't be charged another 30 RMB for the transfer, but they didn't know how much I would need to send for the transfer to ensure my school would receive the remaining 18 USD as there would be more fees from the party that took the 18 USD.

Basically, after 3 trips to Everbright, my school is short 18 USD and the bank doesn't know how much I need to transfer. According to the bank representative I spoke to yesterday, that's how bank transfers work in China.

This is both a complaint about Everbright and a request for help.

Could anyone please give me some advice on how to conduct a wire transfer to the US? Thanks in advance.

It's a wire transfer. There is an obvious gap in expectations. The expectation was an expectation for a wire transfer in the amount I told I needed to transfer and the amount they transferred.

What homework? Any institution should be aware of the fees which are to be incurred during a transaction.

You obviously have no real useful advice and should learn about proper nouns and basic English.. China has a capital "C" and mindset is either one word or two depending upon how you want to use it.
