Well, after reading the article in the Beijinger and being in the area we decided to have dinner at Ahava 798 location. Hamburgers were the main reason to go there so I ordered the Black and blue burger (58 RMB) and so did my friend. The staff did not mention a word about the 60 rmb promotion. Of course I could have asked but what is the point with a promotion if the staff does not promote it.

It took about 30 minutes before the burgers appeared at the table. Quite nice presentation with a middle sized burger but only a few fries stacked on the side, served on a wooden tray. The fries were oily and soft and severely under-cooked. The patty on the other hand was hard, over-cooked, brown-grey, with a texture similar to ground liver. It was also super salty and dry. Also the topping was really salty. It was honestly just a bad burger.

My expectations were high after reading the article but the experience was far from OK. I am sure they have a lot of good food but what we were served was not from that group. The staff suffered, as in many locations, of a clear mobile phone addiction and because of this it took some time to pay even when we walked up to the counter to find them.

Will we try Ahava again? No way!

Hi Still_in_Beijing,

My name is Scott, I'm one of the founders of Ahava. I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience at our Jiuxianqiao location. We try to do our best every day but unfortunately it seems you caught us on an off day. We would love it if you would give us another chance. If you are willing, come in again and we will buy your meal for you. Also we hope you can discuss your experience with our food quality manager, Peter. He would greatly value your opinion.

Please send me a PM and I will set up a time when Peter is available.

Thanks for trying Ahava, we hope we can give you a better experience next time.

Best,
