Review of Silk Market
4

We definitely wanted to do lot of shopping and arrived at this market. It is a 5 floor huge market.

Mostly the market is fake or duplicate market. There are T shirts or Jeans on the 1st floor. Perfumes or clothes on second floor and electronics etc on one of the other floors. They do not give any guarantee or warranty for the products since it is like a fake market.

It was a bit crowded. My personal experience says in India similar T shirts cost 600 or 700 rupees it is almost the same price you buy here. Yes some are bit better design as they are Adidas or such so you can buy some. One of our colleague bought a wrist watch but it stopped working in the night. So it’s non for buying any wrist watches. There are some silk scarfs or such you can buy. Many small items. Please do negotiate. If they ask you 200 yuan you can start bargaining from 20 and somewhere at 50 you could settle. The bags or purse section was most interesting. Again they are duplicate so we are not sure of the quality still there were many who were buying.

The sales girls are very aggressive and not diplomatic, and irritate you a lot but please don’t pick up a fight with any of them .One of our member had an argument over fake notes they give. Please take enough change of rmb from your hotel because if they change 100 rmb and give you 50 back you are never sure that if 50 yuan is not safe. It’s a racket.

Ideally I would advise you can avoid this market completely because of the fake notes problem and the concept of buying fake items.

The visit may give you some highs but also would give you some heartaches that you have been cheated of price or quality.

I wonder how in today’s environment of china government allowing fake brands?
