I went to Paulma (Shanghai Branch) once, specifically because they claimed to be able to cut African hair and do fades; you can rest assured I will NEVER return to to the place. It was likely the worst haircut I have ever had (and hopefully ever will have). I will try to describe how it all went down:
I made very sure to say I wanted a medium fade on the sides and keep all my hair on the top (I was saving for a box cut). Again, I emphasized that I did NOT want to have my hair cut on top. I even showed a picture of what I had in mind. But of course, what is the first thing the guy does? Let me just tell you that when I left I was practically bald with a straight cut across the front that it's actually comical; comical to everyone who has looked at it and asked what happened.
As for the service, the staff was not accommodating at all, they were rude quite frankly. The fact that the guy who cut me was sleeping when I first entered the shop should have been enough to deter me from entering. In the end, they charged me full price (20-30 usd, I cannot remember) even though I clearly stated that this was not what I had asked for.
P.S. I do not usually take my time leave reviews, good nor bad. However, in this exceptional case I felt morally obliged to do so.
