My family and I had dinner at Moscow Restaurant last night, wanting to try something different.

We really enjoyed the meal, the style of the restaurant and the grand building that houses the restaurant. Upon arrival, outside the restaurant in the garden were Russian musicians playing. Inside, the décor is very grand, and looks like something from a bygone era.

The food was good, there was a wide range of Russian and European dishes, and a reasonable drinks list. We started with Borscht, and had a lamb casserole, some snow peas, potatoes with Bacon, Beef with pepper and my daughter had spaghetti. All the dishes were delicious. There was a reasonable drinks list and the cocktails were very strong. The service was attentive, although very little English was spoken here.

This is a bit of a “special occasion” restaurant rather than somewhere you would go for a casual meal. Everyone was dressed up for the occasion, and the prices were quite steep compared to many other choices in Beijing. Russian musicians provided entertainment during the evening.

We liked this place a lot and would recommend it for “something different” to do while in Beijing.
