Talking Pints: Above & Beyond Ticket Giveaway, Spark Launch Party and Lan Anniversary

Usually, this would be your first stop to find out what's going on in nightlife over the coming weekend. Not so this week - all the Halloween happenings have already been painstakingly documented elsewhere on the blog - click here for a roundup of all the parties you can cram into a weekend of dressed-up action. And if you're still struggling for a costume, take some tips from our style editor.

The two things we'll add about Halloween are that we're running a couple of Halloween ticket giveaways for parties this weekend. Number one is for Acupuncture's Spooked party at Lantern on October 29 - check out our 7 Days in Beijing newsletter, published later this evening (October 26), for details on how to win those.

Our other big giveaway is for the Above & Beyond Halloween Party at Tango on Saturday (October 29). The British trance crew have just been anointed Number 5 on DJ magazine's latest list of the "world's best DJs," so if you're into trance at least, you'll be well up for taking your witches' hat and devil horns along to this event. Here's a sampler of what you can expect from the boys:

Above & Beyond feat. Miguel Bosé - Sea Lo Que Sea Será (Myon & Shane 54 Summer Of Love Mix) by aboveandbeyond

Our friends at Sendmetickets.com have offered up a pair of tickets for one lucky reader who can tell us: What is the name of Above & Beyond's record label? Email win@thebeijinger.com with your answer.

Sendmetickets.com are offering a free ticket to Markus Schulz' show on Dec 2 for the first 500 people purchasing an Above & Beyond ticket on their site. They're also currently selling Akon tickets, which we hear are rapidly selling out, so get on there if you're after seeing him on November 4. Also, look out for your chance to win a chance to see Akon on TheBeijinger.com
.

Right, on to other matters, and a few notes for the diary:

Lan celebrates its fifth anniversary tonight (October 26), so get down to the LG Twin Towers if you're a fan of the Philippe Starck-designed club and restaurant.

Spark hosts its official launch party on Thursday (October 27) - see our interview with creative director and resident DJ Kleman Huang here.

Boys Noize is at Tango on Thursday night: check out our interview with the multi-talented DJ here.

The Pavillion is currently undergoing renovations - more news to come on what's going on down there, but the venue's days as a bar look numbered.

We've already mentioned Mao Mao Chong's upcoming Australian pie double-header, the first of which will take place on October 31. Deals from RMB 65 for the pie itself, served with white beans and mashed potato, up to RMB 100 for the pie and a cocktail. Mao Mao Chong point out that October 31 is not just Halloween proper, but also "Movember's Eve" - more on that to come, but get your Bic razors at the ready, gentlemen of Beijing, and prepare to raise some money for charity.
