Playlist: Tai-Luc of La Souris Déglinguée
“Money in My Pocket” by Dennis Brown.
Emotional reggae music, not digital at all, with a kind of “riddim” that even makes the non-dancers dance.
“Wild Wild Women” by Johnny Carroll.
Pure rockabilly, furious vocals, the sound of the American fifties.
“Upside Down” by Diana Ross.
Excellent soul music with a sexy, funky beat. My R&B fave of 1979.
“Looking for a Kiss” by The New York Dolls.
A fabulous American proto-punk song from the mid-seventies. Wall of guitars and the sort of snare drum pattern we still like to listen to now.
“They Don’t Understand” by Sham 69. This is punk rock for real. Catchy little tune, nervous guitar chords and good English lyrics.
Catch La Souris Déglinguée’s unique punk-country blend at Yugong Yishan on Apr 22.
