Talking Pints: Blu Sky Day and Footprint Turns Two

Plans for this weekend? There's a fair bit going on. Comedy, anniversaries, a new opening, one half of LMFAO, take your pick.

Tonight sees The Humor Section host Des Bishop welcome US comedian Tom Rhodes along to his regular night at The Bookworm. He's actually in town for two nights, so if you can't make it tonight (Nov 8), try for tomorrow (Nov 9).

The new Salud opens in Wudaokou tonight (Nov 8), too. Their opening party gets underway at 8pm and they're promising free drink and free tapas, but no signature infused rum just yet.

Dance label Footprint turns two tonight (Nov 8). They're celebrating with a set from international spinner Tama Sumo. Modernista continues its two year anniversary celebrations as well. Tonight (Nov 8) they host a "Russian Love Party" featuring Moonglow Burlesque.

On the subject of birthday celebrations, Agua celebrates turning five tonight (Nov 8) with free-flow wine, beer and cocktails as well as tapas for 200 kuai.

Sky Blu of LMFAO finally makes it to the capital for a DJ set at Elements Club tonight (Nov 8). This one was talked about earlier in the year but was put on ice until now.

Into next week, The Brick's sloppy quiz night returns on Tuesday night (Nov 12). As ever, there are alcoholic prizes for whoever drinks the most throughout the battle of wits.

Slow Boat is firmly into the realm of bottled beer now, and they'll be distributing their latest bottled grogs in several venues around town. Cu Ju, 12SQM and Sand Pebbles will all stock it in Dongcheng, and The Brick and Plan B will carry it in Shuangjing. Speaking of Plan B, their new kitchen is firing on all cylinders now, and they're rolling out a raft of special daily offers starting this week. Mondays will be two-for-one burger night, Tuesdays will be craft beer night (hence the stocking of Slow Boat's wares), Wednesdays are RMB 25 for a pound of wings, and Thursdays are 20 kuai draft Tiger nights. TGI Fridays will mean RMB 50 pitchers of Tiger, RMB 120 bottles of wine, and RMB 120 cocktail pitchers. While on Top Shelf Saturdays you can get half price on any spirits, and on Caesar Sundays you can eradicate your hangover Canadian-style with RMB 40 pints of Caesar.

And the new Homplate Bar-B-Que is almost ready in Sanlitun. They're planning something special for their launch. Details to follow soon.
