What to Expect at This Year’s Art Book in China (abC) Fair, Jun 6-9

The fourth annual art book in China (abC) fair lands in Beijing next week, bringing with it a total 162 exhibitors, featuring leading indie publishers and artists from in and outside of China. The festival will take up residence at the Beijing Times Art Museum from Jun 6-9.

Since its inaugural edition in 2015, the book fair has been dedicated to sharing and discovering creative art publications such as zines, photo books, graphic design books, and art prints. In the intervening years it has expanded to include book talks, workshops, and short-term exhibitions that involve museums, galleries, and other art institutions, as well as top of publishers and distributors.

This year, the works of over 70 publishers and artists will be showcased at the fair through three "spotlight" and two "special projects" sections. One notable attendee Grrrl Zine Library, the Netherland-based pop-up platform composed of feminist-themed zines, marking the very first time they have participated in a book fair outside of Europe.

In addition to books, there will also be handmade art products inspired by artists' works such as pins, stickers, T-shirts, bags, as well as a section of the festival dedicated to music labels, independent brands and studios, and more.
