This is It: Final Call to Vote in the 2019 Beijing Burger Cup

This is it. Only one day remains between gooey, cheese-covered and juicy glory for one and a big ol' piece of soggy lettuce disappointment for the other. What makes this year's competition particularly exciting is the fact that we couldn't have two more different opponents, at least in experience.

With Side Street and Q Mex having fallen after valiant runs at the title in the Final Four, we're now left with Slow Boat Brewery and Crafters Brewing Co to duel it out to the death before polls close on midday Tuesday and 2019's champions are announced mere hours later.

Slow Boat, as we all know, had a significant hand in making Beijing's burger landscape what it is today. Their oozing, pink patties and shiny, pillow-soft bun were such a big hit back when the brewery launched in 2011, that while some had yet to adjust to the hop-heavy nature of American craft beer, they certainly had no reason to side-step the burgers. Luckily for everyone else, they made for the perfect pairing, and Slow Boat's original location was bursting with clients almost every day of the week. The team has grown significantly since that modest unmooring, with Slow Boat's flagship Sanlitun brewery and their new Dengshikou venue continuing to build on what they do best – burgers and beer – and drawing people in from around China.

Their opponent Crafters Brewing Co, meanwhile, have barely been around long enough for word of their existence to reach outside of Beijing. However, that hasn't hampered their chances of winning, with a huge and dedicated turnout showing their support at each successive round of voting. On top of not even having a venue until very recently, Crafters have been making burgers for an even shorter amount of time. What they may lack in experience though has been outshone by their vast network of longtime followers, which they accrued over the years with a presence at markets and events all over Beijing, selling their craft beer and cider. Only time will tell if that will be enough to see them beat a three-time champ.

Make sure to have your say before the polls close at midday on Tuesday, Jul 16 (and don't forget to vote for who deserves the coveted third place). Come back at 4pm on Tuesday to see who has been crowned 2019's Best Burger – may the best burger maker win!
