As we know, the number eight has long been associated with luck and good fortune in China, but which pizza competitors in the Elite Eight round of the 2019 Beijing Pizza Cup will reap the rewards of this auspicious number? Voting is due to close on midday Tuesday, and the number of venues will once again be ruthlessly halved. If you want to ensure that your favorite pizza joint makes through to this year's Final Four, then spend a few minutes doing right by them by getting your vote in now.

The first upset in the last cut was the fact that four contenders from last year's Top 12 were eradicated, which opened up the competition for a potential new victor to step in and take the spoils. Still in the running are defending champions and eco-conscious pizza purveyors Gung Ho! who go up against Beijing craft beer giants Great Leap Brewing. The winner of that matchup will then go up against Pizza Saporita, last year's #10, or La Pizza, the 2018 runner-up. Heady stuff.

Elsewhere, the Neopolitan-style pizza traditionalists Bottega take on the newest hopefuls of the remaining bunch, Jing-A Brewing, who only just launched their pizza in August. The winner there will go on to face off against either Q Mex Bar & Grill, last year's #8, or Tube Station, who just crept into the Top 12 in 2018 but will be looking to rekindle their higher placings of yore.
