Make Your Holidays Artsy This Weekend at Aotu Space's Christmas Art Fair
It’s time to get artsy for the holidays with a special fair and market smack dab in the hutongs, featuring a mix of new and old from the East to the West. That's right, we're talking about Aotu Space's Christmas Art Fair, which kicks off this Friday, Dec 10, and goes all weekend long.
There will be tons of vendors selling all sorts of interesting knickknacks, gifts, and goodies for attendees to enjoy or give as presents.
Not only will there be great art to admire, but there will also be interactive activities too. Likewise, despite the fact that this event takes place in Beijing, a truly global panoply of international acts will transport you all over the world – not unlike Santa jet setting across the map in a single night.
Performances and exhibitions include authentic Flamenco dances, Henna body art, Japanese anime, and various traditional Chinese art forms such as Tibetan Mani stone rubbing, engravings by CAFA (Central Academy of Fine Art) students, and Himalayan handicrafts.
In addition, there will be different tastes of the season from all over the world, with spiced mulled wine to stay warm or some limited-edition Xmas Ale to cool down. As for edibles, there will be tons of tasty tacos, cookies, sweet local honey, fancy French favorites, and plenty more to munch on.
This event is being co-organized by CC Art Walk, a social platform for music, art, crafts, and community, expat resource INN (International Newcomers Network), Expat Connect, and of course Aotu Space, a contemporary art space for the urban community.
General admission is only RMB 15, so even if you decide to simply pop by and take a look, you won’t break the bank but will certainly get an eyeful of interesting art, holiday activities, and merry revelers.
Aotu Space's Christmas Art Fair kicks off this Friday, Dec 10 at 5pm and goes until 9pm. On Saturday and Sunday, the event runs from 1-9pm. Tickets cost RMB 15 at the door. For more info, click here.
