Blue Bottle Coffee Pop Up, Eastend Grocery + More

New restaurants, dining deals, drinks discounts, guest shifts, pop-ups, and more happenings on our radar this week.

Blue Bottle Coffee to Host Weekend Pop up at THE BOX

When California-born coffee company Blue Bottle, famous for its commitment to providing freshly roasted beans, mostly of the single-origin variety, to consumers, made its way into China via Shanghai last year, the question on the lips of many capital coffee lovers was: “when will they be coming to Beijing?”.

The wait is finally over, as Blue Bottle is coming to THE BOX – for two days only. As part of a promotional event with Burton Snowboards, the coffee brand will be operating a stand from Oct 21-22, on the southwest side of the complex. So now’s your chance to try Blue Bottle and see how they stand up to the coffees of Beijing.

Deli Concept Eastend Grocery Opens Next Door to Apollo

From the team behind Apollo comes the equally sleek and intriguing Eastend. The new project, now in soft opening, features a menu of inventive starters, salads, and mostly small bites with a primary focus on charcuterie – a split selection of varying meats organized by country of origin and cheeses organized by style – which can be chosen from the menu or up front at the deli counter for take away.

Wine is also organized methodically between white, rose, and red, and can be chosen from a walk-in wine fridge by the restaurant's secondary entrance. There’s also sandwiches, a standout of which is the Spicy Fennel Pork Sausage Ragout (RMB 78), all melted together with buffalo stracciatella cheese. They've got some good desserts on offer as well. Try the Tiramisu Tart (RMB 58) with an espresso. It's the best end to a lunch.

Coded Plus Promotes African Culture in a Chill Space

The embassy area and its select shops, restaurants, hotels, and other businesses all combine to bring an international feel to Liangma, and a new addition to this comes in the form of bar and restaurant Coded Plus. It’s a chill spot with music, sheesha and more on offer, but what makes it for us is their menu of African dishes. It’s become a hotspot for the African community in Beijing, and the owners hope it can become a means by which locals and other foreigners can better experience African culture.
