Beijing Postcards

In honor of International Women's Day, Beijing Postcards will be hosting two women-related events. First up, they have a talk on the morning of Mar 7 titled "Three Weddings and A Divorce." It explores the changing lives of Beijing women in the 20th century. The session looks at key milestones like women's access to education, the end of foot binding and how communism reshaped expectations of the "ideal" woman. You can read more details here.

Then, on the evening of Mar 7, they will be putting on a screening of New Women, a feminist film from 1935 set in Shanghai. It portrays the ruthless exploitation of a female author who tries to make a career in a male-dominated industry. You can read more details here.
