A Few Upcoming Music Festivals in Beijing and Beyond
Calling all music lovers! Music festival season is fast approaching, and here we've highlighted a few upcoming festivals in Beijing and beyond. You can expect more festivals to be announced as the year goes on, and we'll be sure to keep you up-to-date with any big announcements.
Strawberry Music Festival 2026

Originally launched in Beijing in 2009 by music label Modern Sky, Strawberry Music Festival has grown to become one of China's biggest festivals and is now hosted in multiple cities across China. The 2026 Beijing iteration will be hitting Beijing, as per tradition, during the May holiday from May 2-4 at the Flying Campsite in Beijing Expo Park in Yanqing District.
There will be three large, main stages at this year's festival and acts announced for the lineup so far include Shan Yichun(单依纯), Mao Buyi (毛不易), Vinida Weng(万妮达), 队长Young Captain, h3R3 (刘清云 Liu Qingyun), Zheng Runze (郑润泽), MERCADER (梅 卡德尔), DOUDOU and The Landlord's Cat (房东的猫).
Two big international acts, Boston alternative rock band the Pixies and British guitarist and songwriter Johnny Marr, are rumored to also be performing, however the international lineup has yet to be officially announced and confirmed by festival organizers Modern Sky.

Tanko Kaishan Festival

Taking place this weekend, the Tanko Kaishan Festival, or Tanko Mountain Party, is back for its fourth edition. Happening from Mar 27 to 29 at the Tanko Moofland Park at the foot of Tanzhe Temple in Mentougou District, the festival is designed as an immersive mountain escape blending music, art and community.
The music part of the festival will be running from Mar 28-29, and this year's edition features three distinct stages. The No Stage offers a more experimental, free-form space where performances and audience interaction blur together in spontaneous moments. The Tang Stage focuses on electronic music, bringing together some of Beijing's leading clubs and collectives for an open-air rave experience in the mountains. Meanwhile, the Kaishan Stage serves as the festival's main platform, spotlighting genre-crossing live acts and culturally inspired performances that emphasize connection and immersion. Alongside the music, the festival will host a 72-hour non-stop social experience, an art program featuring workshops and roaming performances, and the Can Bazaar, a curated market with over 40 vendors running throughout the weekend.

Soda Music Festival

The Soda Music Festival will take place from Apr 25 to 26 at Laffitte Castle in Changping District. Presented by Soda Music and Douyin, the two-day event is geared towards a younger crowd, offering a high-energy mix of pop, indie and crossover sounds in an "open, anything-goes atmosphere."
This year's lineup brings together a wide range of rising and established artists. The day one lineup includes performances from Jiang Dunhao (蒋敦豪), 王一珩0neSD, ADD男团, EVE (王澳楠) and Duan Yixuan (段艺璇). While day two features acts such as XINLIU (刘雨昕), Zhou Zhennan (周震南), Joseph Zeng, (曾舜晞) and Li Yitong (李艺彤 ). You can check out the full lineup in the poster below.

Framed as a "youth recharge station," the festival focuses on freedom of expression and emotional release, encouraging festivalgoers to let go of daily stress and fully immerse themselves in music, movement and the energy of the crowd.

Bubbling & Boiling Music & Arts Festival: The North of China

Moving a bit further beyond Beijing, the Bubbling & Boiling Music & Arts Festival will be taking place in Tianjin's Dongjiang Seaside Music Plaza from May 2 to 4. First launched in 2023 by Sparkle Live, Bubbling & Boiling has quickly grown into a major multi-city festival brand, even expanding overseas with a Singapore edition last year.
Bubbling & Boiling blends music and art, and this year's North China edition showcases a distinct sound for each of the three days. Day one focuses on indie and alternative rock, featuring major acts like Omnipotent Youth Society (万能青年旅店), Miserable Faith (痛仰), Escape Plan (逃跑计划), and international names including Black Country, New Road, English Teacher, Sea Power and Motorama.
Day two shifts towards a more genre-blending, youth-driven lineup with Van Ness Wu (吴建豪), You Zhangjing (尤长靖) and Capper. Day three closes on a more introspective and artistic note, led by headline performances from Cheer Chen (陈绮贞), Chen Li (陈粒) and Fan Xiaoxuan (范晓萱) & 100%.
