EAT: Your Chance to Own the Bar at Courtyard Beijing Northeast

Beijing F&B entrepreneurs take note: Marriott is offering you a chance to make you dream bar concept come true. They are accepting bids for their BANG! initiative, which will give one lucky entrepreneur the chance to design and manage the 101 Lounge space at the Marriott-owned Courtyard Beijing Northeast, close to Lido and Beijing Capital Airport.

Contestants need to submit a short business concept along with either a one minute video or three page PDF/PPT document on the website, which opens for entries from April 6-27.

Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to submit a business plan, with entries eliminated to five finalists. Finally, the winner will be judged and announced by a Marriott panel of judges along with influential and professional industry insiders in Beijing evaluating their concepts on May 26. Guest judges include local chef Daniel Urdaneta, Janes & Hooch partner Tom Pattison, and famous Chinese food writer Dong Keping

More unmissable food events and promotions this week:

  • Feast on Indonesian specialities such as satay and nasi goreng at Kempinski's Indonesian Food Festival. The lunch or dinner buffet is priced at RMB 298 and is available until April 19.
  • Zeit Berlin have a pretty crazy all-you-can-eat lunch buffet deal at the moment, coming in at just RMB 39 (usually RMB 129). We can't vouch for the quality at that price but it's an absolute steal if you're in the area.
  • Head to Tribe this Friday for a Down Under wine pairing dinner featuring fine Australian wines and Aussie-inspired dishes. Places are very limited, so be sure to book ASAP (RMB 328 per person).

Does anyone know if there was a winner?

This sounded interesting. They're probably done by now but I had a good idea. I was too busy before...

Anyway, wonder how it turned out?
