Tucked in the back corner of Super Bar Street, Abella is a gem of a place. The decor is very cosy and the service was very good (despite a slight miscommunication on temp of a steak, thankfully rectified before the steak arrived). We were a party of 4 and started out splitting two salads, which is the way I would suggest ordering, unless you plan on only eating salad as a main. We picked the spinach salad with pancetta--it came dressed with a parmesean crisp and thinly sliced radish. We also tried the sauteed mushroom and toasted artichoke salad, which also had a thin sliced of bell peppers. Both were a great start to the meal.
For my main course, I ordered the filet with pumpkin gnocchi in a gorgonzola sauce, served MR (78 RMB!!). The gnocchi where delicious, albeit alittle chewy, but stood up well to the filet, which actually ended up being two small filets (I would guess about 6-8 oz a piece). It was served atop a small bit of sauteed spinach and some roasted cherry tomatoes--I highly recommend this dish. My companions orders a veggies pizza, the herb risotto and a grilled filet. They all said their main courses were delicious.
We split the hazelnut something or other and a chocolate lava cake. The former was OK, the latter was very good. Add two reasonably priced, imported bottles of wine (each around 165 RMB) and two coffees and our meal came to 725 for 4 of us.
I'll be returning soon--there are so many other things I want to try!!!
