Annie's 安妮意大利餐厅

Pizzas and unpretentious Italian-American fare served in a family-friendly atmosphere. All locations deliver and have special play areas where, in between creating their own pizzas, kids can romp and shout. Steady winner of Best Italian in the Beijinger’s 2009 Restaurant Awards. The new Guomao location is one of the smartest, with a large central bar and seating split over two levels. The food, whilst not up to “mama’s” rigorous standards, is both tasty and easy on the wallet, with salads and pasta in the RMB 20-40 range, and pizzas (try the calzone) from RMB 28-58. Voted "Most Family Friendly" and "Best Italian" in the Beijinger's 2011 Reader Restaurant Awards.

Horrible!

Don't understand how this restaurant with this italian microwave food can be so populair! The delivery service is even worse!
Tried Annie's 3 times because their the only one's with an English speaking staff but it's always dissapointing overpriced tasteless food! It's always cold And crappy! Don't believe the 5star reviews that can't be true or those people have a really bad taste.

For Pizza? Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Eating vegan pizzas (yes, they do exist!) often means feeling ripped off and unsatisfied. Annie's however has never let me down! The base is crispy and tasty, they always put enough tomato sauce on so it's not too dry without the cheese, and they even throw on extra veggies without asking when I ask for no olives! AMAZING!! Best pizza I've eaten!
Delivery is fast, and in-restaurant service is great too. I've never had the other options, but my friends seem to love the salmon pasta!

I've tried pizza in two other 'recommended' places in Beijing, and both were dry and boring. Annie's every time! :D

Consistently good.

Pizzas here are always the first good choice.
Prosciutto e Funghi is my favourite. I also like mushroom cream soup, Lasagne alla Bolognese, Insalata di Stagione, atmosphere and service here.

It does what it says on the tin!

Annie's is like that dependable friend who's always there in times of need. You have friends who are way more exciting and thrilling, but Annie's always got your back!

The food is good and keeps you happy. I particularly like the Salmon spaghetti in a cream sauce. The Pizza's have potential, but lack that 'wow factor', due to under seasoning, average pizza base and no wood fired oven.

The staff are also a pleasant surprise in a city of 'rustic' restaurant service. The first time I saw the managers smiling I thought I was dreaming .. however after looking at the same guy smiling solidly for an hour I guess it's in his contract or he gets fired! Either way the staff are friendly, and attentive.

Bottom line, when I need a quick fix of hearty Italian food I get to Annie's, when I need my taste buds blown away I go elsewhere.

Quality and Value

Wanna eat Italian? Can't seem to leave your couch/apt? Call Annies! Good pizza - on the small side but still filling. My wife loves the pasta - the more cheese the better! Good delivery times and courteous staff - especially if you have one close by - I always have gotten great service.

just good for a non event

Because you should eat out everytime , and the turn of pizza comes quite often, Annies works for the price
and convenience.
Though it is not the best pizza in beijing but its close to office and
you know what to expect and its quite fast on service I do go once in a while here.

Good value

Of course Annie's is not the best italian in town, but I think it's good value. Food is good, prices as well. I tried the Ritan branch twice. The salmon fettucine was very good and quite a big portion, for 42 kuai. Cheese fondue was 99 kuai with bread and vegetables, not the biggest portion ever but ok for two. The large Annie's Pizza (sausage and salami) was also satisfying, for 56 kuai. I don't know if the prices are the same in every branch (should be, since it's on their delivery menu), but in places like Sanlitun where they charge insane prices for average food, I think Annie's is quite a good option.

Delivery : not so good

I have never been in the restaurant, just used the delivery service.

I live pretty far, so i don't rate the time to delivery just food.

Pastas are okay but nothing special, the seafood risotto is really good but the pizza are pretty bad, the problem from the products which are not of a good quality, I think.

However the price is cheap so why not?

Good prices, good quality

Went here yesterday:
Both of us ate all we wanted (including dessert) for 170 kuai. Homemade tortellini was well worth it, and the pizza was well priced as well. Complimentary bread, pesto, and olive oil was a great touch. Would skip the cheese platter, however: no fruit and not worth 3 times the price of the cheesecake.
Atmosphere is not perfect, but the service was the best I've seen in Beijing so far (having been a waitress for 4 years). The waitress returned to get my order right after I closed the menu, they cleared the table between courses, and another waitress even tried to upsell, which is rare in Beijing.
Overall, good food, especially for the price (it's hard to have a foreign dinner for under 200 kuai). Would definitely recommend if you are looking for Italian food.

Lovely Ambiance, but...

I love this restaurant! I don't quite remember which Annie's I went to, but it was close to the Beijing United Hospital.
Anyways, the waiters were friendly, and foreigner friendly! It was quite refreshing. My host mother had pumpkin soup, which tasted divine, some well-cooked pasta and a seafood salad. I am a vegetarian/going on vegan, so I didn't try the seafood, but it looked fresh and tasty.

However, the mushroom salad I ordered left me feeling gross. While the lettuce was of good quality and the entire thing looked appetizing, the whole salad was absolutely drowned in olive oil, and the mushrooms looked canned. Mind you, a light douse of olive oil would've added a nice flavor to the salad... but there looked to be about half a cup of oil collecting at the bottom, it definitely wasn't meant to be a 'healthy' salad by any means.

Overall Annie's serves delicious food, but I will be more cautious when ordering food here.

Exceeded Expectations

Tried Annie's (Guomao) for the first time today. My wife and I ordered two pastas and a large salad. Annie's completely exceeded expectations.

Food: The salad was large, super crisp and generous on ingredients like artichoke hearts that restaurants typically skimp on. (suprising for a low-end chain)

Clam pasta. Delicious. Maybe a few more clams wouldn't go astray, but the flavor was great.
Pesto pasta: Not great pesto and a bit bland, but for the price (RMB 38 for a large size) I was still pretty impressed. Suprisingly generous on the frills too.

Service: Probably the best service I've had in Beijing on this occasion. Staff were friendly, attentive and seemed genuinely concerned about our comfort. The manager was visible and asked us if we were enjoying our meal. Unpretentious.

The Verdict: I know Annie's is not the best Italian food in Beijing, but they deliver exactly what they say they do and more. While it's pretty common to leave a western restaurant in Beijing feeling screwed (element fresh?), at least leaving Annie's we felt full and satisfied that we had a decent meal at great value for money.

Just okay

In a hurry I ordered one of Annie's standard pizzas (margarita) and a Greek salad. I have ordered from them before so I knew what to expect. The food was quick to arrive as it always is and the delivery man was very courteous. The problem was that the pizza just didn't taste good. The sauce tasted sharp almost like tomato paste and there wasn't much cheese on top. The salad while nothing was wrong, wasn't anything special either. I would order again if I were in a jam but only I'm in a jam. There really is better pizza out there but unfortunately most of it doesn't delivery half as fast or cheaply as Annie's.

Gross But Fast!

I always feel horrible after eating Annie's, and half the time it makes me sick, but their delivery is just so efficient. When you're hungry, it's THE option, plus they can customize your pasta.

Maybe if Gung Ho could make a simple pasta.. like one that doesn't involve cream and/or 50 exotic ingredients.

Too greasy and quite average

Too greasy were the garlic breads . The chicken salad was good part. The pizza quite average. It works for delivery when run out of options, but doesnt for any special dinner.

ol faithful

Say what you will about this restaurant, in my heart it is still “ol faithful”. Delivery is speedy and in this area delivery services aren’t as prevalent as in the center of Beijing. My favorites / suggestions are the meat lasagna, the four cheese pizza and the chicken salad. The later is probably the weakest among my suggestions. Most of the staff speak English which is not necessary but nice if a misunderstanding pops up.

Inconsistency in Delivery Charges/Lido branch temporarily closed for business

When I lived at Sanyuanqiao in 2009 and 2010, I would order from Annie's Chaoyang Park location. Every once in a while, but not always, they were going to charge a delivery fee because I lived "out of range". Once I was able to order a couple times without an incurring delivery fee, of course I would contest it whenever they subsequently did demand a delivery fee.

After a move, I now order regularly from the Lido branch. Shortly after the Spring Festival Holidays, I called them up and was informed that they were closed for renovations, but they took my order and passed it on to the Chaoyang Park location. Today I wanted to place another order, a friendly voice picked up the phone, I asked whether they were open for business again and, after a "yes", placed my order. My address was confirmed. Suddenly the friendly girl asked me to hold on for a minute, and then a young man picked up the phone instead to inform me that they were still closed for "zhuangxiu", but I was very welcome to order from their Chaoyang Park location against a taxi delivery fee of RMB 30 because of the distance.

Whether a service fee is charged or not is one matter, but I just wish Annie's were more consistent with their definition of delivery fee charges to given locations, and last but not least with communicating that especially in light of such short-term changes and adjustments. Anything else suggest a randomness and arbitrariness that is not acceptable to a regular customer.

So please note: Annie's Lido branch currently closed for renovations!

After gung ho I guess few expats order from annies , and it says it all.
when there was no one doing a good job annies did it but had flaws. someone does it better, but the gung ho guys deliver only in select places.
