Enjoyable
I've never been to Greece, so can't say how "authentic" or otherwise this place is, but I have to say I've always really enjoyed the food here. The lamb is particularly delicious. The desserts are disappointing however, so avoid them.
Service is good. Prices aren't cheap, but ok considering the quality of the food.
An okay food with reasonable price
Walked past Athenas a few times but never had the urge to go in and try it. 'Serve the people' seems to be a better choice each time!
From the outside, Athenas doesn't look very appealing, but once you're inside it actually looks a lot better. Service was good, maybe because there were only 4/5 tables to serve. At one stage one of the waiter got really bored and started to pace up and down.
We ordered cheese/spinach pies and fried goat cheese for entrée and grilled vegetables & tagliatelle for main. The cheese/spinach pies looked a bit like samosa but greasier, the goat cheese was quite nice, although my partner seemed to think its kinda smelly. The tagliatelle was average but the grilled veggies was actually nice. We had fruit punch and grapefruit juice for the drink. All that comes to 227RMB. Maybe slightly pricey but everything in Sanlitun is. Would I go back there again for more greek food? No. I'd rather try different greek joint elsewhere.
Pretty bad
Usually I like to go to a restaurant because they can make something I can't make and/or can make it better than I can. I could make the stuff at this restaurant better and I am not really a great cook. Coffee not great, baklava frozen, bad quality feta, canned olives, quality of the meat ok, price pretty high for low quality. Decor is quite pretty though, and nice outdoor seating.
Perfect for chatting
Being on the Sanlitun north embassy street, it's always really quiet. This is the restaurant we choose when we don't know what we want to eat, because it's not really expensive and the appetizers are in small portion, even when you don't feel like anything, you know you won't screw up and waste the food. Plus, it's easy to sit and talk for as long as you want. The staff are really friendly. It never gets noisy and crowded.
Athena - Don't listen to bad reviews
Not so bad
Just wanted to contradict other reviewers and say that this place is not that bad. Been there a couple of times this summer and the environment to sit outside is really nice. The gyros and the mixed grill platter is really good. Some was saying that it was not real Greek food, I would say that it's as good as any food I have been eating on any Greek island like Crete, Santorini and Corfu.
Right: VERY BAD FOOD
Bad Olives
Terrible, just terrible!
Really very bad Greek food !!!
I'm Greek and I know what means Greek food.
This food there is not only very expensive, but also very bad.
This is not Greek food. Chinese-Greek maybe, but not Greek.
I'm new in Beijing and my friends told me that nobody Greek is guest there, but I would like to try it.
I think that Chinese and foreigner guests will have very bad impression about Greek food…
Greek embassy must to do something for it.
I gave 1/5 because the environment is real Greek.
