Bellagio 鹿港小镇

See and be seen at these Taiwanese hipster eateries, perfect for late night sweet treats (shaved ice with mango, anyone?), divine claypot tofu, and the splendidly numbing Chongqing lazi ji. The Gongti branch’s compelling people-watching offers a tasty respite from a long evening of dancing at the nightspots nearby. And any place that gives all its staff a compulsory basin haircut has to be worth a visit, right? Voted "Outstanding Kung Pao Chicken" and “Best for Late Night Dining” in the Beijinger's 2011 Reader Restaurant Awards.

Mom loved it, so 5 stars

Went around 2:30, was half full. Great price for quality food. Food arrived in about 10 mins (y)

Awesome drinks and great dishes, (except what appears to be left over cabbage with dried up fish). Definitely would go again

Forgetful waiters

Go at post 11 pm and they will give your food to some other table and someone else`s food to you.
Its a common problem at bellagio so we stopped going here after 11pm.
Before 11pm its still a good place.Food is good. They have forgetful waiters.

consistently good

We go to the Xiao Yun Lu location about twice a month and are never disappointed. The food is lovely (order the crispy chicken or the sweet and sour mandarin fish for top marks) the service good and we are never let down.
I like to try new restaurants all the time but Bellagio is one that I return to time and time again, safe in the knowledge that I will have a tummy full of yummy food at a very decent price.

like it after the late night party

Bellagio's has long been one of my favorite places for Asian food. The food is always delicious and I cycle through my favorites with each visit. The cabbage and bacon is yummy, but for a more legitimate vegetable plate I get the dragon beans cooked with garlic. Anyone that has not tried this yet should. The kung pao chicken is delicious. I love the sauce, sweet and not an oily mess. The chicken is always tender and I can't get enough cashews. The spicy tofu with pork leaves my taste buds tingling. The whole tilapia is cooked perfectly with crispy skin and soft meat. A beef dish that comes out sizzling on a hot plate with onions and peppers (I've forgotten the name) is nice and flavorful and a heartier option. Pricier than local places, a meal varies greatly depending on the dishes and a light lunch for two can be around 100 to a larger dinner, with drinks, to a bit under 300.

Three Cup Chicken and Great Ice Treats

Review of Bellagio

Bellagio is open 24 hours a day and serves up good grub the whole time. First time I went was in the day for a non boozy lunch. The food was great, especially the three cup chicken, when I asked a friend (who is a chef) we were having lunch with about it told me its simple one cup of soy, one cup of xiaoxing and one cup or coke. I've tried multiple times to recreate it at home but been unsuccessful thus far. Also tried the dish at a couple of other places and Bellagio's is still the best. Bellagio also have great shaved ice deserts. Have tried multiple flavors and all have been good, I like the passion fruit one best, my girlfriend raves about the peanut butter one and has never ordered anything but that.

Great for a post bar/club munch too!

For those with Taiwanese food cravings

Bellagio is a bit overpriced for the portions of food it serves, but the food is authentic Taiwanese! The peanut butter and sesame noodles is perfect for lunch on the go, and the cold chicken with ginger scallion sauce is a must try. When Chinese food becomes too greasy and spicy in the days of summer, Bellagio is a great alternative that's easier on the stomach. Go with friends and order their gigantic shaved ice.

Place for Late Night Snacking

Besides the hot dogs in front of VICS sold for 20 RMB, this is the other place I love coming to for late night snacks after clubbing (opened till 2am or 3am daily).

The Beef Noodle Soup and the Pork Rice are especially good while the dessert items like the Lian Ai Bing Sha made out of ice and peanut flavoring are great for hot summer days like these ones.

For dishes, the Hakka stir-fry made out of celery, ham, and squid is good and goes well with rice while the Hainan Chicken Rice comes with three great tasting dipping sauces—soya, ginger, and hot pepper.

With several locations around town (Xiao Yun Road and in Asia Games), you could come here no matter where you are in the city.

The only minus would be that they charge 10 RMB for water per person and the wait is sometimes long on weekend nights.

Nice atmosphere, tasty food, but stingy on the baikaishui

I go to this place at least once every two or three weeks. There's almost always a wait if you go during peak dinner times, but the staff will let you have a seat in a waiting area, where you can read some local newspapers, preorder, or chat. You can even discreetly pound a few tall boy Asahi beers purchased at a nearby 7 Eleven while you're waiting: the waitstaff are going to be too busy dealing with customers already eating than have an interest in taking your drink order or care that you're bringing in outside beverages.

Good choices here include the San Bei Ji, the tofu pot, the eggplant, and several of the Qing Chao vegetables. The Kung Pao chicken is a different take on the dish. I thought it was sort of nice, but a little overly sticky and sweet. Beer is kind of pricey here, 30 kuai for a little bottle of Carlsberg. The waitstaff will pout and argue if you try to order the ubiquitous free Bai Kai Shui (hot water). Asking to speak to the management usually cures this attitude and they'll bring you a cup of free water.

Love this place

I adore this place. Every dish I've tried here has been fantastic. Sometimes, you need a break from the mainland style of cooking. It's nice to have tasty, light Chinese (Gang Ao Tai) food that's not swimming in oil. The portion sizes are perfect. Perfect place to go to for late night dining.

Do get yourself a peanut shaved ice, it ROCKS!

The desserts are FABULOUS, which is why one goes. All of the shaved ice desserts are amazing. My personal favorite one is the peanut butter smoothee. It surprises my taste bug every time. It's a great place to go after a late night as it is open late and has great desserts.

This place rocks at everything!

I've been here on several occasions, ordered different dishes each time, and have dined at different locations throughout Beijing. Verdict: this place is amazing.

They've got a wide selection of almost everything, drinks, appetizers, noodles, meat dishes, and their desserts are the best part (the peanut butter smoothie along with the beans shaved ice together is absolutely heaven!)

Bellagio is a bit on the expensive side but definitely not overpriced for the quality of the food. And since this place is open til late at night, it's the best place to satisfy your late night cravings if you're willing to wait a bit for your food.

Finally!

a few places in BJ which are good for late nite
dining. I don't like chuanr or gui jie. I prefer
a restaurant where my food isnt walking along
the side of my table!

Bellagio.
Excellent kungpao.
nice assortment of wines.
great desserts.
nice atmosphere.
service can be on and off. but on mostly!

Thank you Bellagio!

The best late night dining bet.

This is a wonderful place where you can get good food and service even in the late hours. Food is always fresh and cooked on a lighter side.

Midnight snacks

May be noodles or some taiwanese snacks, go well in the midnight after couple of drinks and hanging outs.
The service could be hit or miss but neverthless at 3 am in the night someone is giving you decent food.

It’s time to rethink Bellagio

Bellagio is often hailed as one of the city's top night time dining spots, winning the then That’s Beijing Reader’s Restaurant Award in that category for 2006 and 2007.

If your idea of post-club chilling out involves iced-desserts in midwinter and a complete lack of a cocktail menu then you might agree with this assessment. Personally, I treat the restaurant as an ideal place for brunch. The Cantonese or date and longyan milk teas are delightful and invigorating. A light snack such as the pork wontons are succulent and effortlessly combine the tastes of sweet, spicy and numbing.

The use of space, lighting and mirrors creates an impression of a much larger dining area than the restaurant actually occupies. You neighbouring tables are near enough to create a lively atmosphere yet somehow you don't feel you need worry about eavesdropping. If you have a busy day ahead of you this is surely the ideal place to start your motor.

The all-female wait staff have appropriated the favoured haircut of the lesbian community to create an impression of a highly disciplined regiment of asexual servers. They mostly appear fairly content with their lot although have the habit of sometimes busying themselves with trivialities or gossiping when one wishes to catch their eye.

The clientele is varied: interracial couples carting along spoilt offspring at lunchtime; model-grade women make an appearance at hours normal folk are working; middle-aged housewives with, presumably paid-for, young male company can be seen and overspill from nearby gay hangout Destination guarantees the presence of older, obese European men dining with young, presumably paid-for male company during the weekends.

Young, nervous men in expensive clothes that don't quite suit them try to muster relaxed conversation with colleagues from the media industries. One accepts an expensive cigarette though clearly does not know how to inhale, another seems grateful for a call on his Hong Kong-bought iPhone.

At lunchtime one table will perhaps be occupied by fat, unpleasant-looking, middle-aged Chinese men in cheap navy-blue suits, seemingly content to sit muttering and shovelling quantities rice and soup between their slack, expressionless jaws. Doubtlessly these are “public servants” whose days are measured out in borderline misappropriation of public funds for expensive dining, petty bribery and falling asleep at their desks.

For main dishes, poultry is reliable.

Bellagio's sanbeiji is a dry pot containing a decent quantity of fragrantly spiced chicken. Their duck comes with a sauce that veers daringly close to jam though the tangy fruit cuts through what can be a fatty meat rather than acting as a cloyingly sweet afterthought. The crispy chicken is similar to a British pub's "chicken in a basket" thought certainly of considerably higher quality. The skin is salty and the cooking method creates a varied texture of meat. Though undercooked areas in chicken flesh would normally be a red-light for salmonella or worse I have a degree of trust in the quality of the produce and take my bird-flu outbreak scare stories with a pinch of salt.

The biggest disappointment is probably the restaurant’s noodle dishes, none of which are impressive and all command at least 30 RMB. Tastier options are available in Beijing for less than half that price. A much better option is the caifan, basically a bowl of steamed rice with bacon bits, though the taste and texture is absolutely perfect. Set meals at the back of the menu provide a reliable option for those who just want a decent plate of meat and rice.

A big meal at Bellagio might set you back a couple of C-notes with my preferred light lunch an acceptable 49 RMB.

Good food and fast service, but they screwed up one time

My husband and I love eating at Bellagio. You can rely on the fact that you can randomly pick out anything from the menu, and it will be delicious (except for the desserts; more on that later). I really recommend the broccoli with oyster sauce.

A substantial meal for 2 would ring up between 140-180 yuan, depending whether you go for a simple meal of rice and 2 dishes or several snack type things.

However, there was one time when we gave 200 yuan for a 170+ bill and the change NEVER came back. We kept asking several waitresses to check on it but no one ever came back with an answer. Although tipping is not the SOP here, sometimes we do tip if it was a really nice meal, but we would have wanted the choice of whether to do so or not. The fact that they weren't even apologetic when we walked out leaves a bad taste in the mouth, along with the very mediocre desserts. The mango crepe/roll with cream inside was very bland. I can't imagine how you can fail such a simple dessert. We also had a strange creme brulee that was also very bland.

After that episode, I know we shouldn't keep coming back but I like the food that much. I just won't be ordering any desserts.
