Blue Frog 蓝蛙
This popular Shanghai-based restaurant chain has a menu rooted in burgers. The “Blue Frog Burger” ranks right up there among the best in the city, and there are a host of other patty-based options available. Drinks are buy-one-get-one-free during the 4-8pm daily happy hour; on Mondays, that also includes a buy-one-get-one-free burger deal. And American style breakfast is available all week. Other culinary possibilities include Italian-style pasta dishes and Mexican options – a reflection of the American melting pot. Decent Wi-Fi. Voted "Outstanding American" and "Outstanding Burger" in the Beijinger's 2011 Reader Restaurant Awards.

Do not know if like
I’m not quite sure what to make of Blue Frog. I think I can only describe it as the perfect example of a chain restaurant.
The décor is nice enough but very conservative and inoffensive. It could well have been designed by someone who usually works with hotel room interiors.
The staff are young, slightly amateurish but put some effort into service, suggesting their manager does take their duties seriously and probably gives them regular pep talks.
The menu looks quite exciting and was almost certainly formed by calculating the twenty most popular dishes from America’s hundred most popular restaurants. The prices certainly are not cheap but the effort put into producing this panacea of popularity gives some confidence that the chefs should prepare the dishes competently.
I chose eggs Benedict (80RMB) and got a blackcurrant soda with it. I was asked if I wanted my drink with “less ice”, which I did on such a cold day – not being an American I also do not have an absurd and unwarranted devotion to frozen water.
The meal was acceptable, though the eggs were quite cold and there was only a smidgen of hollandaise sauce which was unable to offer a great deal of flavour. The soda was very good.
Asking for the bill produced a slightly confused expression and the question of whether I wanted “the check”. The nationality of the manager is hardly in question, though I have yet to make my mind up as to whether I will give Blue Frog a second chance

Its just ok, good service and cool area. eh 还行。 。 。 。
Ok so I went blue frog yesterday and the service is great, seats comfortable pretty nice lay out with a fantastic view of the stumble inn.
But I gotta say, after spending 250 kuai the food was just ok. The burger was just huge and tastless and the chilifries where in a weird bowl and dry and pretty unappealing. I don't know but I just did not enjoy my meal.
I remember like a few months ago I got some corn-beef sandwhich or something i forgot, but it was good. It seems now their menu is very very limited. So honestly I feel "the den" has better western food for sure, better burgers and french fries even though that place is much more smokey.
But all n' all its not bad just not good, and for the huge prices i just dont see the point.

All Things Considered, It is GREAT All Around!!
Good Food, the burger is really good, at least consistent and its Beijing
Prices are reasonable. On Mondays, it is really good deal. Two for one!! And given the location, surroundings, quality, it is "pretty cheap". hey they have to pay rent, import ingredients, and pay their investors!
Good setting. love it in the summer. good for a business meeting and/or date(not first) good music
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES IN BEIJING

Have to admit a little part of me died....
.....when I saw Blue Frog had won the best burger award.
The Monday Bogoff deal just about makes the place worth visiting, buts it's not the most memorable dining experience I have ever had. Only visited a month or so back but can't actually remember what I had. Let's call it the 'meh burger'.
The place has very little atmosphere, service is shocking, and the hideously priced cocktails taste like a three year old has gotten into the cupboard beneath the sink.
The only area this place doesn't seem to fail in is the music policy, which was a mixture of 90's British dance/indie. Great, but an expensive and underwhelming price to pay for a bit of nostalgia.

A good service experience...in Beijing!
We go to Blue Frog a few times a month for their (underrated) brunch and for the occasional dinner. I've always liked the burgers there (though their policy of "only cooking to medium" is total b.s.) and sitting on the patio with a burger and a cold beer, well...there are far worse ways to spend an evening.
Last night though, our waiter was kind of dickhead and I was willing to let that pass, but the problem is...dude forgot to put in our order. At first we didn't notice. It was busy and we had beers so we were pretty patient. But after 30 minutes we decided to ask and in reply got the standard "mashang." Okay, they are "mashang-ing" and it's all good. 15 minutes later, one of the floor managers stopped by and we asked him. His answer: "mei wenti." So "Mashang" and "Mei Wenti" have both assured us that there is no problem and our food will soon be served. Once we crossed the hour mark though, we asked "Mashang" where the hell our food was, at this point "Mashang" turned into "Aiya, Wangdiaole!" He forgot and by the look on his face it was clear he didn't give a f--k about it. He'd put our order in right away, but hey--whadddyagonnado? "Mei Wenti" came over and tried to ply us with free nachos but more in a "if I throw food at the foreigners maybe they'll shut up about their unrealistic expectations for 'quality service'"; the whole time looking at us as if we, instead of asking for 'burgers,' had requested instead that he bring us the 'nearest small child for satanic feasting.'
Fortunately, the manager, and I wish I knew his name, he's either British or Australian, and he's always been a good guy to us, was there. I just happened to stop him and tell him the situation. This guy SPRINGS into action, apologizes profusely, and within 10 minutes we had a round of drinks and our food...on his tab.
Mistakes happen. No restaurant is perfect. But I judge a restaurant's service not by their mistakes, but by how much they seem to care about fixing them when sh*t happens. An all too common attitude (around the world, but especially here in Beijing) is: "If you don't like it, go. If you don't come back, who cares?" If it had been up to "Mashang" and "Mei Wenti" we would have probably finished our drinks and then gone to Flamme (also a good place) likely never to darken the threshold of Blue Frog again. Now, because of the manager's quick and sincere response to our complaint, I'm actually likely to patronize Blue Frog MORE in the future.
Customer service isn't hard. It's listening, giving a crap, and then taking real action to make it better. It's how you keep your customers. Last night, Blue Frog kept us. Kudos to them.

HIgh Price, average burger
Went there a while ago for a burger, but haven't been back since. Luckily it was a Monday night which is 2 for 1 on burgers, but the normal price is about 70 - 90 RMB for a Burger, and its really not worth that!
Although we both asked for the burger to be cooked medium they were both cooked well done, not juicy atall and the meat didn't taste of particularly good quality compared to other places were you can really taste the meat.
The only real flavors came from all the added toppings, such as cheese, bbq sauce, onions rings etc which made up for the meat.
The only good dish where the curly fries.
However they do have a good range of continental beers and cocktails, so this would make a cool place to come for a drink, and the inside is well furnished.
If you want a good Burger, get to Stumble Inn or Lets burger.

Just shame Shunyi bluefrog is gone
I've been to the Village restaurant in their very beginning. Don't remember the name of salad I had ordered which tasted really bad to my Chinese stomach, However ever since I ordered their Mexican food, I loved it and enjoyed the place and atmosphere for awhile, and since Village became hot, their restaurant business is hot too. So when they have Shunyi branch, I felt really happy, a place I'd love to go again in Shunyi area.
But now it's gone (for not many businese in the area I guess). It's a shame...:)
I give 4 stars, it's because the price does over-rated a bit.

The Blue Frog: eat all you like and lose 4 KG in 2 days
I had eaten in the Blue Fog a few times, usually burgers which though overpriced were edible. The beers were about the usual for Sanlitun eateries but on my last visit and I mean my last visit I had an experience to remember.
In 30 years of travelling and eating around the world in hotels, restaurants and at hawkers the experience has been matched just once eating prawns in Australia about 20 years ago.
My last visit to the Frog was just for a few beers and nibbles, so uncivilised to drink without nibbles.
I might add it was a Friday the 13th, a few months ago but I've been busy.
The nibbles were curry spring rolls, they looked and tasted like they were straight out of the freezer and into the deep-frier. Silly me, I had to drown them in the sweet Thai chilli sauce just so I could swallow them. Of course I should have just sent them back but the Tiger beer was crying out for company.
A less than memorable experience, or so I thought!
Between 3 and 4 hours later having consumed nothing else I was feeling a bit seedy on the way home. I barely made it through the apartment door and to the bathroom. Deft and rapid movement was neccesary in the bathroom involving dropping trousers and sitting on the throne. Before the bum had kissed the seat there was an explosion to rival Muraroa Atoll on test day, I am not refering to a sporting event. Fortunately the excrement was entirely liquid as if it had not been any kind of stool would have definitely resulted in permanent damage to my new imported 3000rmb German china throne given the force of expulsion. I wish I could say it ended there but alas not. As my buttocks hit the seat I was literally doubled up and the projectile vomit hit the opposite wall.
As you may surmise from the title this situation, action at both ends, continued for the next 24 hours and over the whole weekend nothing more substancial than water, a beverage usually shunned by me unless accompanied by scotch, passed my lips.
After the weekend I emailed the Blue Frog to tell them of my experience and suggest they might care to check the Spring rolls. Their reaction, well actually no reply, so I did try a follow up email to find my ISP was permanently blocked. Interesting attitude to customer relations.
So in conclusion if you want to pig out on mediocre burgers follow up with a serving of spring rolls and you will actually lose weight. Be careful with your timing though or you might have an embarrassing situation on the subway or in the taxi.
On a positive note I can honestly say the toilets upstairs are excellent, clean and fresh, immaculate which is refreshing news if you are planning to stay longer after the spring rolls ; you could be spending a lot of the night in there if you do.

OK hmmmm
Can't complain about the happy hour prices and all, but the service here is average, to below average. Perhaps service quality does not matter too much for beer and chips orders I guess. Overall, I'd go to other bars in the area as the BF only just does enough. Burgers are a good option food wise.

Good Stuff

Happy Hour - 4-8 and 2 for 1s on most cocktails, margaritas, and martinis. They make decent drinks but nothing that is worth going wild over. At 65RMB for a glorified Bombay Gin and tonic (they add an orange slice) it is a little costly but during happy hour it certainly makes it worth your while. The Blue Island Iced Tea is potent and will also set you back 65RMB.
Food - Good, worth your time and money even in this area. 55RMB for chili cheese fries that are huge and weigh in over a Kg. Come for buy one get one hamburgers on Monday.

Buy 1 get 1 free : The perfect cheater package, 忽悠'ed
Went there to try the famous "Buy one get one free". It appears that it is one hell of a cheater deal, looks like the manager fits very well in doing business with "Chinese characteristics".
Basicall you will get two burgers for 85 yuan, as it is the deal. However, the "free flow of water " [sic!] is charged 20 Yuan per person ! So you actually end up paying way more than you actually thought you would, since, of course, they do NOT advertise the fact that they charge water so much, and worst of all, they charge for every glass of water on your table !! Beware if you thought you could order two glass of water for 20 Yuan like I thought !! The "free flow of water" is only per glass =))
Let me be clear, I don't mind paying for a service I estimate to be excellent, I understand the times are tough, the rent is high, bla bla, but even maison Boulud never charged me 20 Yuan a glass of Nongfu Spring water !!
Anyway, in my blacklist, for good (I guess my coronary system will thank me for that). I felt like 忽悠'ed when I saw this bill, and I won't forget to talk about it to all my acquaintances.

Burgers tank, service sucks, but the fries are good!
Went to Blue Frog on one of their BOGO days, we happened to be walking by SLT.
Good
-Seating wasn't a problem, we got a nice seat within 5min.
-The sweet potato fries were well cooked, sweet and savoury, about the same quality as I would get Stateside.
-The accompanying salad was nice, well put together and has good flavour.
-Beer: 30RMB (lame, but that's BJ) but it was ACTUALLY cold, which was great.
-I like the interior, the large windows were nice. The bathroom is upstairs, btw, in case you need it.
-Music was nice, good mix of new and oldies.
-Menu is clean, organized, and simple, which was nice.
Bad
-Service was no more attentive than anywhere else in Beijing, I liked it especially when 2 servers had a 5min conversation next to my table about customers in the restaurant, their boyfriends and shopping. >.<
-Serving: Had to tell the waitress 3x that I would call her when we decided, and then our food took forever to show up and was lukewarm. I asked for it to be reheated or redone, and she put her hand on the plate (gross) and told me it was fine. WOW. If I wasn't with people, I'd have walked out.
-The burger: Lukewarm when it finally arrived Dry, massively undersized when compared to the size of the bun, and medium-well meant baked rock hard. I was REALLY disappointed.
Took our time eating, and we weren't bothered afterwards which was nice. Maybe this is because we went on a busy night, when you'd expect a drop in quality, but really? Pick it up. I'll throw a bone and bump it to 3 stars because there's no 2.5, and I'll go back to make sure I don't trash someone unnecessarily.

Yummy Blue Cheese Burger...
In an effort to try as many burger varieties as possible it was time to try a Blue Frog's burger. I’ll admit I was skeptical because of the higher pricing but after talking to the energetic server it was decided that Blue Frog's Blue cheese Burger was today’s burger of choice. Their burgers menu look amazing but I was still worried…until the my Blue Cheese Burger arrived.
It’s a hand-pressed meat patty packed with usual fillings and coated with a thick layer of creamy blue cheese sauce between a sesame seed bun. The burger took at most 10 minutes to be served and although the fries were nothing special this was a delicious burger. Everything tasted fresh specially the bun. I didn’t add anything to the burger but overall it was a very pleasant and nice surprise of a burger adventure.

overpriced but nice staff
ORdered their house-specialty burger for 80RMB on a wednesday night. way too expensive. looks huge because of those 2 onions on top. mondays are buy one get one, but friend says it's packed. but still, 40rmb for a burger? dunno, overhyped and overpriced.
nice staff though, who asked me if the burger was fine. (if only i could tell her your burgers are too expensive). oh, staff was smart, suggested i get a salad with that? i asked, is it free? nope. credits for that sales talk.

over priced but still fine
I love the burgers, but they are overpriced, but still I land up here.
Recently there are hiccups on service as pointed by other reviewers and me too observed ,the manager is changed and is quite casual about his work , never dressed formally in a tie or jacket, may be.
Burgers are good though.

Great Value on Monday Nights
We were wondering around Sanlitun trying to find a new place to try and had heard about the specials on Mondays so decided to head here. The outside terrace looks really nice but was full when we arrived so we dined inside. The menu is a bit pricey but on Mondays during happy hour(s) many or most things are buy one get one free. The food was good and to get two nice size burgers and fries for 80rmb wasn't bad. The drinks were also BOGO and the billiards was free. Great place to hit up on Monday nights.

Overpirced
I find food overpriced compared to its quality. Maybe because the rental cost is high.
The only positive feature in this place is its terrace in summer...
