CNEX Salon Cafe 北北库沙龙咖啡馆
Short for “Chinese Next,” CNEX is a non-profit organization founded by a group of professionals, from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, who are passionate about Chinese culture and are devoted to the production and promotion of documentaries related to the Chinese people. The Salon Cafe serves Western food and drinks (coffee, beer, cocktails) and regularly hosts screenings, exhibitions, music performances and workshops. Also available for private events.

Good events, disappointing as a cafe

Review of CNEX Salon Cafe
I've been to a couple of events at CNEX, most of which have been really good. They host a wide range of screenings, usually showing films and documentaries which are hard to see anywhere else.
As a cafe, however, CNEX is a bit of a let down. Whenever there has been a break during the events I've been to, the cafe staff seem completely overwhelmed. The fact that they seem to take 5 minutes minimum to make each cup of coffee doesn't help. Once you get the coffee it's fine, but it can be a long wait. I haven't tried the food, but their barista skills don't inspire confidence.
CNEX can also be very tricky to find.
Top marks for their events, but low marks for cafe service.
