Went over to Cold Stone on the weekend for a quick fill of ice cream, thought they were offering my favorite cotton candy ice cream again when I noticed the blue ice cream was actually blue Hawaiian sherbet. This place is totally one of the better ice cream joints in town though. Decent flavors, setting, and okay service.

Also an update for Cold Stone lovers and ice cream lovers alike the once-beloved Gustomenta is now closed.

I love Cold Stone back in America. Here in China, it is a nice place to go to sometimes for a treat as they do have good home made ice cream, but sadly dissapointed when compared to my memories of American Cold Stone.
My Favorite flavor, "Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip", had a great mint flavor, good amount of fudge and chocolate chips, but the brownie... dry, crumbly and ruined an otherwise good ice cream. Dairy Queen has better brownies than Cold Stone.

We went back the other day, and this time got "Our Strawberry Blonde", which includes strawberry ice cream, strawberries, caramel, whipped topping, and graham crackers crumbs. This was a wonderful combination. The caramel with the strawberries was very good.

All in all, Cold Stone is good for a treat, just stay away from the brownies.

While it's hard to find fault with ice cream in general, I find Coldstone's flavors to be unusually bland the stuff doesn't hold up on its own without a mix-in. Having said that, if you choose carefully you can create something with a real flavor -- like the banana ice cream with chocolate chips mixed in that I satisfyingly shared with my daughter last weekend.

Just love the idea of customised ice creams with fruits ,nuts or chocolates .
I finish the ice cream to the last scoop and enjoy the waffle too.
