This eatery aims to abolish the idea that crepes should only be consumed for brunch, serving sweet and savory crepes all day. Go for sweet, avoid the savory
I have been disappointed by the savory crepes, but the sweet ones hit the spot. I haven't taken a look at the drink menu since they re-opened post-renovations, but last year they had some tasty cider available, too.
The servers didn't know what was inside each crepe and were not exactly attentive, but that's not why I go to this place anyway; the reason to go is to get a quick crepe fix.

Satisfies crepe cravings
As I was reading through the other reviews, I have to say that most of the negative ones are not wrong -- these crepes could definitely use some butter. And the lack of decent seating often dissuades me from stopping by -- I rarely find the weather or ambience of San Li Tun at street level conducive to dining outdoors.
That being said, I'm just overjoyed to have anyplace at all to get my hands on some delicious crepes! If you're on the go, or picking up some food to eat at home, this is a great choice. They have a nice variety of both sweet and savoury crepes, and while no one would mistake these for authentic, the crepes are of a high standard and carefully prepared. They make a pleasant change from the usual budget choices of burgers, pizza, or Tex-Mex.

Great crepes, comfortable atmosphere
Quaint and intimate, Crepanini offers a comfortable setting to go along with great crepes. I decided to check the place out after a light dinner in Sanlitun and came away quite impressed, as the Tutti Frutti crepe that I got was absolutely delicious.
Prices are decent – in the range of typical SLT prices, although definitely about RMB 5-10 cheaper than the crepes at Le Petit Gourmand. Portion size is also pretty good. The only complaint I had about this place was that they ran out of fresh strawberries for the crepe that I ordered, but offered to supplant it with extra mangos, which still turned out to be amazing. I haven't tried the paninis yet, but I'm sure they're top-notch as well.
Definitely recommend everyone try it out any time you’re in the SLT area, whether it's for a quick dessert, a lunch date, or just to satisfy a crepe-craving.

Butter

Should not need to tell this to a French person but this yellowish gold is what is desperately missing at Crepanini. The food (apart from lack of butter) is good. Panini is actually quite yummy if you want nice sandwich just ask for it without the side salad (a piece of lettuce soaked in vinaigrette that will seep into your panini). Would like to give it 3 and a half stars because its only lacking butter, and the service is average but then again good service is hard to find in Beijing.

pretty good
The waiters are kind of idiotic (like most wait staff in BJ) but the crepes are fantastic and not badly priced. I think they just expanded their menu as well. Try the snickers one!

Highly recommended
This is a gem of a place. I have only eaten there once but my roommate, regularly brings home bags of their crepes. They are melt-in-your-mouth wonderful! For my dine-in experience, we both ordered banana chocolate crepe. It was too yummy. Not cheap, but well worth the price. Highly recommended!

Pas Mal de Tout
Had a quick stand-up lunch there today and my companion and I were both impressed - the panini I had was grilled just right and the combination of jambon and frommage had just the right amount of flavor. It was also refreshing to be able to have a stand-up quick bite in a nice and clean environment. The jug of fresh water is a nice touch as well.

French crepes as original as Gucci from Yashow
I don' understand the hype about this place: albeit the crepes are affordable, they aren't filling or especially tasty. The ingredients are fresh but, tenants simply don't get the amount correct: either too much or too little and as another user pointed out, no butter. Criminal.

Not that good...
I went there after reading all the good comments on this page, and I was pretty disappointed. Mostly because I read the tenants are from Bretagne. If they were Chinese, well, it would be a little success.
1) If there's one thing i can't accept, it's the lack of fresh butter on the top of the crepe (usually added just before service, so it's still melting when it comes). Butter is not hard to find, it's not expensive.
2) The salad is served in the same plate, wich makes the whole crepe completely ruined by the vinaigrette.
3) The fillings are way too "wet". The should put less tomatos, less cream, less cheese, and let them cook open a longer time.
4) The salmon crepe is almost un-eatable : the crepe is fully wet with lemon and I felt like eating a salmon, cream and lemon soup with a few pieces of cooked pancake floating around.
5) The 25rmb cider cup is filled with the most untasty cider I've ever drunk.
But, for a reasonable price (though to eat to your full belly and drink some you need more than 100), it's ok. The best we tried was not the Bretonne but the one with cream, cheese, ham.

Waffles the Best Thing
If you want traditional French crepes for five bucks a pop, Crepanini is the place to go. Decorated with several outdoor small, white picnic tables and chairs and purplish-blue tiles from Brittany complimenting the take away window, Nicolas Raoul and Jean Baptiste Audram have brought grandma’s kitchen from France to Beijing.
As evidence by the name, Crepanini specializes in Crepes and Panini. The recipes are traditional French recipes and made with imported ingredients. For avid crepists, Crepanini’s crepes are not too soft or too crunchy, but an accommodating and satisfying medium, in order to carter to the tastes of the locals. The technique appears to work as it is always busy and filled with all ages and ethnicity enjoying the food and people watching. The middle of the afternoon is the least busy, but even at 2am the atmosphere is cool and nonchalant like a Parisian café. However unlike in Paris, the prices are much more reasonable. The crepes range from 26 to 35 rmb and the Panini are 27 to 36 rmb. The juices and smoothies are also around 30 rmb and are made fresh and not watered down, though the smoothies are slightly over chilled. The alcoholic cider is very fun and served in a traditional Brittany drinking bowl.
Nicolas, who studied in creperies in France, has taken classic recipes, but also added a few unique gems. The sweet Mango and Dolce de Leche crepes are spins on Asian and South American desserts, and are worth a try. The Dolce de Leche is creamier than caramel and resembles a toffee. The classic Chocolate crepe is also a good sweet spot with a distinctively rich after taste that is surprising, and made with Netherlands chocolate. The Lemon crepe is a perfect energy booster and a fusion of very tangy, light, sweet and sugary.
The savory crepes are thicker than the sweet crepes and are better for a main meal. The top of the lot in this category is the Louvre. Made with ham, imported Emmental cheese, and mushroom, it is creamy, warm succulent and almost soothing. It is a perfect indescribable fusion of all the ingredients. The Celtic is at the other extreme; crunchier, lemony with smoked salmon and the savory equivalent to the Lemon crepe. Another winner is the Triskell, made with three cheeses including goat’s cheese, mozzarella, emmental and basil. The only bland crepe is the Riviera. Made with mozzarella, tomato, olive oil and basil the attempt to turn a Mediterranean dish into a crepe does not crossover well, and ends up being too salty and blasé.
The Panini dishes are not the traditional Italian Ciabbata style though. Crepanini uses French baguettes and uses traditional crepe recipes to fill the Panini, making for lighter sandwich meals. Yet before you go, do try the waffles. It is a dish easily dismissed because of the name of the place, but it rivals and surpasses the sweet crepes. Nicola’s has used his grandmother’s secret recipe, and it is fluffy soft and light but also moist. This Brittany style waffle is very different to Belgium waffles which tend to be harder and crunchier. A word of warning, do skip the ice cream. Though decent, it is not Italian gelato as it claims to be, nor does it even come close to resembling gelato. It tastes like conventional ice cream and is nothing extraordinary.
The chefs are quick to point out that Crepanini is for those solely looking for French style crepes. Unlike at the crepe shops specializing in Japanese and Thai crepes, where there is spongier, flat dough than filling, here the crepes are thin –but not paper thin- and contain more filling. That being said, don’t expect to leave feeling full. Crepanini is a place to sit and drink coffee, nibble on crepes and enjoy the scenery. As they say in France, Santé!

Authentic French on a Budget
There are many gifts that France has given China over the years.... Carrefour, a target to attack during the pre-Olympics, guys in sanlitun who know that the only appropriate summer-wear to get drunk in is a button-down shirt tucked into women's jeans, the opportunity for Chinese nouveaux-riches to show their colleagues poorly photographed pictures of the Eiffel Tower and all the Chinese food they ate while in Paris, and so forth. But I think I can safely say that the greatest gift to date from France is Crepanini.
I'm just going to go straight to the point: Crepanini serves crepes that taste like crepes. These aren't just glorified jianbing's. They're authentic, the ingredients are fresh and it's not too pricy, which in itself is a winning formula (quite frankly one I wish more places would try... and for that reason I can't justify detracting any stars from this review).
Tucked next to Nali Patio (along the tourist sanlitun beijie bar street), Crepanini is basically a window and some outdoor tables. The menu is simple: half a dozen different crepes (that you can also make paninis, though I wouldn't recommend it), half a dozen dessert crepes and some drinks. The staff wear those black-and-white-striped-shirts that you'd expect to see in an SNL sketch about Sarkozy, but for reasons I can't comprehend it doesn't come across as tacky. The owners - two young and friendly guys from Brittany, the crepe capital of France - are usually hanging around, making sure everything's in order, stepping in to cook crepes themselves or just standing in the doorway chatting idly to each other about the FC Lorient - Paris Saint-Germain match.
The crepes are pretty straightforward: filled with the usual ingredients of ham, tomatoes, mushrooms and, of course, cheese (real cheese, mind you), among others. For those who know their way around crepes, note that these are not actually galettes (what you might refer to as a salty or dinner crepe). One of the owners explained to me that they couldn't find a good supply of buckwheat flour, so all their crepes are made with wheat flour (what dessert crepes are usually made from). This is pretty disappointing and does detract from the satisfyingness of the whole experience, especially because it means they can't put eggs into the crepe, but all things considered, it's something I'll learn to cope with over time, since the crepes do taste good. Not quite so good as a galette you'd get in France, but still good, and certainly the best you can find in Beijing.
Crepes range from 25 to 30 kuai - not too shabby - and come with a small salad dressed in a full-flavored dijonnaise, which is a fantastic treat for me though Chinese people seem to hate it (perhaps they'd be better off serving Thousand Islands...). I personally like the most basic crepe (ham and emmenthal), but if you want the full flavor crepe experience go for the Bretonne. One crepe is not really big enough to fill you up (unless you're, well... a Chinese girl), but I guess that's why the dessert crepes are there. Sugar or Nutella crepes are sure to please. Finally, while it's relatively expensive, I would definitely recommend getting a bowl of cider (25kuai), which goes fantastic with the dinner crepes.
I can't help but say kudos to the owners (note: I don't know them personally). While the crepe is not perfect, it's close enough, and I appreciate the fact that they're trying to make real international food without extortionate prices. It's clear that these guys feel strongly about crepes.
Expect a dinner for two to set you back 80-100rmb. (As far as authentic French meals in Beijing go, that's hard to beat.) It's quaint, not romantic; great for a relaxed and leisurely meal, especially those who miss the flavors of a real French crepe. Certainly a great addition to sanlitun.

i might not be a foreign person, but for once, these guys are doing great food!! Pricing are very cheap for French food.it's very cute design, almost like when i went to France with my parents.I advise every Chinese and foreigners to enjoy this experience at the French terrace.
My favorite was the 'Bretonne Crepe' and then the Smoothie number one with Strawberry and there great Nutella Waffle. I now LOVE NUTELLA!
Certainly one of my favorite place today for french food.

Crepes are Tasty, but Paninis are a miss
I love the crepes here, given that I usually also have a sweet versus savory. Great as a mid-day snack while walking around the village.
However, I have tried two of the paninis (tuna and the britton) and I have to say that they were not so great. The cheese in the ham one is lacking and the tuna tasted odd.
I really was looking forward to having a waffle, but on Sunday they said they had none. :-(
I assume something is wrong with the machine, who knows.
Once I get a waffle I may bump this score up a star....

Hours?
What are the hours for Crepanini? I've called dozens of times and nobody answers the phone. I've checked the website, which does not seem to exist. I've stopped by several times only to find the shutters closed. I hear great things about the place, and so it'd be nice to give it a try. Please, can someone tell me the hours, and can someone answer the phone?

The perfect beginning, middle, or end to any evening in Sanlitun
This place is going to be a huge hit. It's perfectly located, fun to chill out at, and the dulce de leche crepe absolutely hit the spot after a few beers. I agree that they are going to need a lot more tables and chairs. And honestly, the crepes are very authentic. I mean, they should be, they aren't hard to make, but a lot of places sadly can't figure out how to do it right. So even though a staff member made mine and the French owner was standing aside, it was still perfect. Try the lemon crepe with sugar for a tangy and sweet summer snack. As for their salty crepes, my friend liked hers, but I never think they measure up to the sweet ones anyway, no matter where they're made. I think I'll never decide to get anything but the dulce de leche crepe, though...I almost want to go back and get one right now. Anyway, the place is great and is going to have some long, long lines of hungry fans waiting for crepes and waffles every night this summer. And winter. Okay, pretty much always.

I agree. Great crêpes!
I went their when they first opened and their "salty" crêpes still needed some work. Unmelted cheese and cold ham left things a bit dry in my mouth, but their apple-caramel crêpe was délicieux.
Their prices are reasonable.
Great place to chill, too. They need more tables and chairs! They could fill the entire sidewalk easily.
