Enoterra
A rare find in Beijing, this Shanghai transplant is a classy, unpretentious wine bar, with reasonable prices and decent food (tapas). As Enoterra is an independent distributor, the wine list offers diverse and unusual selections, with bottles starting at RMB 98. Voted "Outstanding Wine Selection" in the Beijinger's 2011 Reader Restaurant Awards.

dont understand the good review
I have tried 5 different dishes and 4 different wines, it appears that only one dish and one wine was good ...
But the service is ok and the location is not bad neither.

Consistently underwhelming
I've been to Enoteca/Enoterra twice and have been less than impressed both times.
Went to their old The Place location for their Friday night 200 kuai bottle + tapas/snacks. The wine was too sharp without any depth or lingering flavor. The food was a bit of a joke as well. There was one cheese plate with a few decent options but this was a once off at the beginning, the rest of the free flow plates were cut up club sandwiches, a cold grilled cheese made with some poor quality cheese, marinated mushrooms, and bland, stale dinner rolls. I understand the appeal of this deal but for sandwiches and not very decent wine I'd do that at home for less money or would rather pay a bit more for a decent bottle and food.
I gave Enoterra another try when they moved over to Nali. Again, the bottle of wine was not good, I'm not expecting much since I'm not buying expensive bottles but I've gone into other restaurants and got their cheapest bottle which is usually a similar price and it's a decent and enjoyable wine. For food: the blue cheese/parma ham bruschetta was awful - tasteless bread smeared with blue cheese and a piece of ham - it looked like something a 5 year old would make. A clam dish was fine, it wasn't bad and the clams were tender but it didn't leave any lasting impression.
At this point I don't think I can give them another try although if anyone has recommendations for specific bottles (red) I'd love to hear.

great place for after work
I've always loved this spot, though it seemed like it was struggling for awhile, its going strong again now. Why? Lots of wine bottles below RMB100, almost all below RMB200, some incredibly refreshing roses that make a great summer drink, and a really trend setting make this the perfect after work spot for a drink. The food has improved, though prices/portion ratio still can't compare to the cheap prices of the wine. The outdoor patio opened last year added a nice dimension, a great spot to enjoy a bottle while chatting with friends when the weather turns nice.

Great little gem hidden in The Place
Close to CBD, so it is perfect for an after work drink or two. Good, but not great wine list. Reasonable prices and nice tapas menu. What really sets this place apart is the service. Every time I have been there, the staff and management have been extremely helpful in providing suggestions and information on the wine and food pairings. It is like getting a free wine class. If you don’t want to be bothered, that is fine as well. They are not snobby and pushy at all.
Not cheap, but mid priced.

Great chill bar, lots of wine
This is a great bar with a wonderful selection of wines. The food is superb -- we got some appetizers and the fondue, which is a great selection for an intimate date night. The service is some of the better that I've ever received in Beijing. The place is in a nice location as well, smack in the middle of The Place, with big windows offering expansive views. The interior decor is nice and gives you a good, chill vibe, exactly the way it should be for a wine bar.
I've never been for the specials but I hear they have some great deals as well.

Selection and Price
Enoteca has got the right combination of excellent selection and great prices to match. They sometimes have cheese plate specials and stuff which makes it even a better deal. Last time I took some friends who were tourists in China. Basically after getting off the plane and dropping off their bags at the hotel, we hit this place and they were just left in awe -- so this is China?!?

Not as good as in SH
My first visit to Enoteca was to a Shanghai branch and sadly, the BJ location just didn't compare in terms of service and atmosphere. I wish the location was a bit bigger too. The wine is superb and you get great value for your money, but the food is kinda blah. I tried the duck salad (RMB 45) and it was a pretty half-assed attempt. But I suppose that's why you go for the wine. Fridays are best, free flow tapas if you buy a bottle.

Such a great place.....
According at yesterday's first visit, Enoteca's really good place for relaxingThe interior's supporting, The music's really nice (I love jazz.. that's why :))
Then the wine's good.. The food? Is no doubt, pretty good.. Their chocolate lava cake's the most delicious I've ever had in Beijing so far.. and then, things getting better on Evening.. Jazz music, wine, the view of plaza from it and somfortable bar, It's just a perfect blend.. So, what about the service? They're good.. I've just got one on Beijing, when they're thought I was bored for waiting their food, they're really appologize and promise me that food's on the way done.. (even so, for me it's standard.. not too long, not too fast.. I was enjoying that bar either)
So what about the last issue, Bill? Then both food and wine are really affordable to get.. They also allow you to buy the wine separately, then bring it home, so you can also enjoying by yourself..
Really worth visit!

Still loving it
Enoteca can easily be described as the best wine bar in the City. And wine is trully what they are all about, although their tapas is also not to be missed.
The guys import the wines by themselves which gives them unparaleled price and quality advantage. I mean, where else in the Jing can you drink a bottle of imported high quality wine at mere 100+ RMB? Seriously, where?
I've tried the Cabernet Sauvignon at 120RMB and it was much better than the Cabernet Sauvignon that i usually buy at Jenny Lou's at the same price.
They also got two guys playing decent Jazz music in the evenings, although i think it might only be a Thursday night thing. Should have asked.
Overall I give them 5 stars for great wines at great prices and good live music.
I actually like Enoteca better in the summer now with their "hidden" terrace and all. It's great to sit up there after 10pm when everyhting gets quiet and temperature gets more bearable.

Great deals, great staff, great terrace, great place to relax on a Friday night after a heavy week at work
Aside from the fact that Enoteca is one of the few places in Beijing (if not China) that offer a range of affordable bottles, which are really good, I enjoy the overall atmosphere. Now that Beijing is warming up the terrace is nice place to hang out in the evening (though I disagree with a person at the next table saying that the view is awesome...interesting and great to watch people but not awesome). Their Friday night wine/tapas deal is great too. RMB 200 for a bottle and free flow Tapas (their unique kind of Tapas) thought I wouldn't recommend going in a big group if you intend to have tapas for dinner as generally everyone leaves hungry...
anyway great bar....

Wine two three four
Enoteca is the best wine bar in Beijing for two reasons: inexpensive high quality wine and their daily promotions. I normally go on Friday when they offer all you can eat tapas with the purchase of a bottle house wine. Service is prompt and unpretentious, and the bar is comfortable with a great view of the plaza below. nuf said.

Quality wine bar
Good wine bars are few and far between, especially in Beijing. A good wine bar in my eyes includes a nice, comfortable atmosphere with good wine at prices for all budgets.
Enoteca manages to do this well. Seats you can relax into, good service and a handy food menu of light bites/tapas to compliment a wine list that starts just under 100RMB a bottle, with the majority not excessively priced. They also sell the winelist separately, so if you like what you've had to drink, you can buy another one to take home with you - can't complain.
Downsides? Just how popular is becoming at peak bar times. I'm sure the owners don't mind that though!

Friday Wine fever? rather Friday Tapas stuff-yourself-till-you-die fever
Did the Friday Wine fever at Enoteca last Friday with a group of friends.
Must be one of the nicest deals in the city.
We spent 600RMB (split among 5) drinking 3 bottles of nice wine and enjoying their unlimited tapas deal. Luckily the free flow of food ends at 11pm, otherwise they should have carried me back home, I got so stuffed.
Trully dangerous.

BORING,BORING, DID I SAY BORING??
Obviously the other reviews have something to gain here. Yes, sure good food at a reasonable price and if one sticks to the 'cheaper' wines- 0 yes there 'fine'. Friendly/good waitress/service, but please will someone please SHOOT the so called jazz band- JAZZ what a joke, morose or did someone die.- If ever there was a review in these pages written by someone who is connected to the business read the reviews before!! Come on, up your game, what a boring band/trio, sack them. wakeup DUMBO!! Gypsy music, come on, pull the other one.

The one true Wine Bar in the Jing
I've stumbled upon Enoteca when walking trough the Place shoping street (you know, the one with the "mother of all screens"). The place is somehow centraly located in the huge flight of stairs leading to the norht side of the "The Place" shopping street, yet it is somehow hidden. Passing on the street below the glass structure sandwiched in the middle of the stairs you might overlook it by day, but at night you can ceratinly see that something is happening there. And rightly so, because this place hides the best Wine Bar in the city. I've visited it several times since my first visit in late August and I've always had out of this world (Beijing world that is) experience!
Great service, great ambiance, great jazz music on Thursdays, great food and above all, by far the best value-for-money Wine selection in the City.
Wines by the glass start at 38RMB (With 2for1 happy hour Monday2Friday)and bottles start at 98RMB. My favourite pick so far: Abadal 5 Merlot at 300something RMB. Just an amazing Merlot that can stand on it's own. I mean, imagine; You can go out to a bar, spend 60+ or 70+ RMB per cocktail, drink three or four of them (not really knowing what kind of alcohol is used in the drinks) and spend 300RMB easily. While instead you can go to Enoteca, grab a bottle of wine and share it with your sweetheart and spend half the money while drinkig high quality wine that will not give you a headache the next day.
I think i've found my favourite place in Beijing.

A fabulous Wine bar
Enoteca is a rare find in Beijing.
The owners import over 100 different types of wine from all around the world and this alowes them to sell the wine in their cozy bar at retail prices.
Selection is great and tapas are fabulous.
definetely the best wine bar in the city.
