Face 妃思
An upscale bar tastefully decorated with artifacts from China, Indonesia and India. Prices are high, but it’s the only place in Beijing where you can find a pint of Tetley’s.

Enjoyable visit to Face
Have not visited the place for a couple of months so decided to have dinner at the Thai Restaurant & drinks at the Bar. The ambience at Face has always been great and is a rarity in Beijing. The decor at the Thai Restaurant has been improved upon to add to the authentic setting. Service levels have definitely improved and Chefs promotions are now being recommended, try the Bread Crab Promotion, its really value for money. Food quality seems to be still good. Ordered some new cocktails which was being promoted at the Bar afterwards and enjoyed the pool tables as usual. The place might be pricey to some but if you would want to enjoy what Face is about, then go for it !

Face
I was excited to find out face was in beijing, I loved the one in shanghai...which is unfortunately not there anymore. Had a bottle of wine and couple rounds of other drinks. Drinks were good, decor is good, but not very busy. Which was actually nice since you could actually have a conversation. Chill place, but not half as good as the one that used to be in shanghai, Just lacking that something that makes a place come alive.

Potential...
Went to Face for an early dinner and drinks, so I can't say anything about the night bar & cocktail scene. We sat outside on their patio/garden area, which really is lovely and serene. You forget that you are in Beijing while out there. But then the service reminds you that you're definitely in Beijing.
We asked about Happy Hour and were told it was 50% off beer & soft drinks. I ordered a bottle of beer, and then was told, 'No, only 50% off their 3 draught beers' (normally 80 RMB per glass).
When the bill came our beers were not 50% off (unsurprisingly). We asked a (different) waitress about this, told her what we were told, and she kept insisting that we were wrong. We finally convinced her to go talk to our original waitress or her manager. She came back and still said, "Sorry." We insisted on talking to the manager ourselves. The manager came over & we told the story again, to which he said, "We don't offer Happy Hour in the restaurants." After explaining as calming as possible that HIS STAFF told us otherwise, he finally gave in and said, "Ok fine, I'll do it this time, but the restaurant doesn't do happy hour." His attitude was horrible. Like he was doing us this HUGE favor and we should be so very grateful to him. They are already getting a compulsory 10% service charge, so how much more grateful should we be??
The thing that was most unbelievable was that our party (12 ladies who had just dropped over 1600 RMB in a few hours) was pretty much the only party the entire evening. Can you really afford to piss your customers off that you BARELY have?
What a waste of beautiful decor and decent Indian food. I'll give it 2 stars only because the food was good.

Don’t bite off your nose to spite it
Other users of this website have complained of the high prices at this venue’s attached Thai restaurant, not just an indictment of their own shabby fiscal status as a plate of middling pad Thai here sneaks unreasonably above the 100 yuan mark.
Treat this classy spot as an opportunity for a pre-dinner cocktail before the appetite kicks-in however and I daresay you shall not be disappointed. Face has never been overly crowded when this patron has taken a young lady to aid in propping up the bar, enabling one to feign the kind of manly rapport with a barman that never fails to impress the fairer sex.
My favoured tipple is the “oriental sea breeze” a bracing spritz of fruit flavours and reliable palate cleanser.
For the ladies, Pina Colada is available.
A red-baize pool table is on hand to further impress a date with your sharp shooting.
The location, a stone’s throw from the Worker’s Stadium south gate, also makes this a reliable meeting point. Choosing such a spot ensures you, and your good friends, are highly unlikely ever to lose Face.

nice ambience
Can't remember how many times I've been there for drinks and friends-talk...
also for playing the pool...
nice coctails...
The thai restaurant upstairs was overpriced...only been there once for a friend's birthday and will never go back.

Pretty lame.
This place is weak. The drinks are good if you're just a beer-and-wine kind of person. Singapore sling was lackluster. The food is so-so, especially in the light of the cost. 3 and we spent 700 rmb. Could have had a way better meal for a tenth the cost somewhere else.
English only menu + non-english speaking waiters = especially annoying. I don't like having to point.
Skip this place.

Way overpriced
The Thai food was good, the drinks are excellent, the decor and outdoor seating, particularly in the summer are lovely, I would definitely bring a visitor here for a drink, but everything is seriously over priced. Overpriced drinks I can handle just as an excuse to sit somewhere lovely looking but a SINGLE bowl of tom yum goong for RMB70?? For that price the service staff should be falling all over themselves to attend to your every need with 5 star service, but I got a wine glass practically thrown at me, a 16 year old waiter who couldn't speak any English (which I think in a restaurant totally geared towards expats without even Chinese on the menu, is inexcusable), an overflowing ashtray left at my table until I put it on the floor next to me and a surly look-and-grab when I asked the waiter to please help me hang up my jacket. NOT COOL. And it wasn't the first time I've had this service there. If I want to pay those prices I will go to a five star hotel where the service makes it more worth the money; you can't just rely on your name and decor and let the rest go to hell.

Loved the atmosphere
I guess it is not fair because the night I went out I was not paying, but I enjoyed this place. The different rooms are decorated differently and lend themselves to different types of people in different parts of their night and the drinks are of high quality.
