For anyone feeling bookstarved, this is one of the main places to go. There is probably the widest selection of English-language books in Beijing here. Not that that makes the place perfect - oh no. The shop is weak on modern fiction and non-fiction - you can get all the classic authors (Dickens, Austen, Twain, etc), some more offbeat mid-century fiction by e.g. Jack Kerouac, Doris Lessing and Orwell, but modern stuff seems mostly to be Tolkien, JK Rowling, sporting/celebrity biographies, how-to for business and some history. Rather insipid! But I guess this is perhaps to be expected - though it doesn't mke the bookshop any better. Prices are moderate to pricy, depending on how old the book is.

This bookstore has a really good slection of English books. One of the things that keep me coming back to Foriegn Language bookstore is the staff. Even though it may be busy at times, there are enough staff that you usally don't have to wait too long for some help. Not only will they help you find the book you are looking for, but they will make suggestions to help you find the right book for your needs. Overall Foreign Language bookstore is a pleasen place to go to for your books.
