Jin Ding Xuan 金鼎轩酒楼
Cantonese chain that specializes in just about everything including dim sum. The quality is only so-so and the place is loud, but who can resist the pull of 24/7 neon? Be wary of the tacky auctions they hold on a nightly basis. Readers voted it "Best Cantonese" and "Outstanding Dim Sum" in the Beijinger's 2011 Restaurant Awards.

My personal favourite in Beijing
Ive been only to the Ditan branch but that over the last years for innumerable times.
The dim sum are tasty, the seasonal stuff a little more expensive but a welcome change from time to time and the drinks are nice too. Only thing I would wish for is cheaper draft beer.
Unfortunately it has seen a lot of price inflation in the last years, but so does everything else here in Beijing.
Service is a big plus and are definitely on the good side for Beijing.

Thank you JDX
Thank you for all the pleasure you have provided me through the years! Whenever I am in need of great dim sum, chinese broccoli or some zhou you are there for me, open 24/7. Just because of this I award you five stars! Thank you JDX!

Cheap, clean, and MSG-free
True, it's not high-end dining, but the title says why I'm giving this restaurant chain 5 stars.

A chinese afterhours
Interesting chinese decoration with many pictures of famous people on the walls. Reasonably clean but with the weight of being a very very busy place. Any time of the day you will find patrons at this venue. Located south of Sanlitun, is a good place to fill up your stomach and balance the alcohol after a big party. Also frequented by prosperous chinese men with beautiful ladies if you know what i mean, definetly you'll find a very interesting and diverse fauna at 3.00 am. The food is great for being a pseudo-fast chinese food place, specialized in cantonese dishes but also a lot of sichuan specialities.
My fauvorite dish is the sichuan fire noodles, it will kill any sensitivity you could have in your tongue, so advisable to pair it with a very cold beer, the chinese ones are excellent because the low alcohol though a bit more of fruitness would help to balance the exaggerated spiciness.
Being a cantonese place the speciality is dim sum, although here is not that good; the outside layers are too thick and lack the smoothness and tenderness I found in Guanzhou or Hong Kong. Anyway is always nice to have some shrimp.

Best alt. to late night street food
When Beijing rid itself of interesting street food Jin ding xuan became my best friend. At least two of their many locations are 24 hours and service is as good at 3 am as it is at 3pm. Most of all, their dim sum, Sichuan, and other categories of food are all fresh and tasty. They also are reasonably priced.

Lao wai's favorite?
Sorry to say, for those who think that jin ding xuan's dimsum is good, have they really tried other good dim sum's place dimsum? or its because this is the only affordable dim sum place and thus getting these ratings?
I have given JDX many many chances by trying it at least 5 times before i write this comment, but despite the award they got every year (highly suspicious) and all the great reviews saying its their best restaurant they ever been (more suspicious as for those reviews which use such strong word like 'best'), any people who like to eat or like food or like cantonese food can tell that the food is moderate, its not very very bad but it is not even close to best cantonese restaurant....
one thing of such low quality stuff is definitely due to too many varieties of food offers in the restaurant, they cannot master any of those which makes it so special but they do focus in lowering the price, 24hours operation and etc to lure customers, which i have no problem, but giving them such as best restaurant or best cantonese food in town, makes me highly suspicious on the beijinger is merely rewarding their customer so that they can advertise more in their magazines.
btw, can check with any well known and reputable food critique in town, no one will recommend you this restaurant, so, how on earth it can be competing with other great cantonese restaurant?!

Mixed - 5 stars for the Tuanjiehu and Ditan Park locations, much less for the Dawanglu and Jianwai SOHO ones
I would give this place 5 stars for the Tuanjiehu and Ditan Park branches. Both excellent - extensive menus including not just Cantonese but also Huaiyang, Sichuan and other dishes, all brilliantly done. The Macao BBQ pork is exactly as it should be - perhaps the best I've tasted - a layer of melt in your mouth meat under creamy fat and a wafer thin but very crispy skin. The Dim Sum is consistently excellent, especially the Shao Mai. The vegetables always taste fresh and are never over-done with MSG as you get in some places. The seasonal menu is great. Attentive but not overbearing service. Full marks.
Dawanglu and Jianwai SOHO branches suck. They are basically fast food outlets. Tiny menu. Bad service. Poorly made Shao Mai that tastes like it's been sitting on a hot plate for hours keeping warm. The Wuxi Ribs are disgusting and anyone from that area especially would find them repellent. 2 stars at best (1 for the Wifi).

Dim sum 24/7
One of my favorite restaurants in BJ, for lunch, for dinner or even after going out! Probably the best dimsum in town for this price. The service is quite ok for such a restaurant. Noisy and possibly smoky depending on the tables around you. Crowded, so if you don't like waiting you might want to avoid going there at 12:00 or 18:00. Either go there at 11:30 or 17:30 sharp, or else you better go at 14:00 or 20:00.

Perfect place
It opens 24 hours. From around 23:00-6;00 there will be some discount for snacks.
Here you can taste tradional cantoness and Chuan cusine as well as lots of Chinese popular cusine.
What i like best is Zhong dumpling, that's very good. the smell is definately the same wtih Chengdu's.
Maybe sometime there will hold auction for chinese drawing or chinese tradional art.

Dim Sum Round the Clock
Always a favorite place to hop in if there is a sudden craving for cantonese food at anytime of the day or night. By cantonese, I mean dim sum: portuguese egg tarts, pastry of all kinds, deep fried dumplings, BBQ pork steamed buns. We just couldn't get enough of it. We don't get to see the dim sum cart being pushed around but what's more important is all the cute little dishes laid before our eyes. It is very affordable. Our bill hardly goes beyond RMB 100 (for 2) each time.

good food for when you're drunk
This spot is open 24 hours and seems to be hopping no matter what time you go there, with special prices during off hours (pretty much anytime outside the typical breakfast, lunch, and dinner times) all day long. Everything comes out pretty greasy and the flavors can be heavy, both not typical qualities people tend to associate with Cantonese food. The dim sum is alright and can satisfy a craving, but few will mistake it for high quality dim sum. However, if you're looking for Chinese food at 3 am after having consumed a pop or two, this is an excellent choice.

Great value for excellent food
I went to Jin Ding Xuan over the weekend and despite the construction happening inside and outside the restaurant, was pleasantly surprised. The hargao was probably the best I've tasted in Beijing. On a Sunday morning, the place can be really packed so get there early! Great place to take out-of-towners visiting for the weekend and needing a dim sum fix.

Midnight munchies, daytime dim sum and a place to take visitors -- all in one
The plethora of menus which always seem to change make this a go-to-place whatever the mood. A great place to stumble into late at night, with classic crowd-pleasers such as spring rolls, egg tarts and char siu dumplings offered alongside a huge range of other dishes, confusingly listed in a pile of menus which always seem to change. The lively atmosphere and quick service make this a good place to take visitors from abroad and its a fun place to visit on a weekend for some simple but effective dim sum, if you can brave the crowds and wade through the piles of sunflower seed shells dropped by the waiting guests. For an extremely filling meal for two at under RMB 100, you can't go wrong here.

dont get the malaxiangguo
i am a big fan of jinding not just the cantonese but also the sichuan dishes like ganbiabiandou and shuizhuyu, but we had the malaxiangguo there the other day and were thoroughly disappointed.
and yes, even though you might go at 2 am, you're gonna have to wait for the food to come out, not that quick, but by that time at night, people have a different sense of time and space so it should be ok.

I would love to go here sober!!!
I have visited this place way too many times for midnight snacks. It's so delicious, the xiaolongbao burst with juice (amazing) the various steamed dishes are always warm and tasty, and the dingdingmian has a creamy spicy sauce that really hits the spot. In my drunken state I often use the edges of steamed buns to mop up the noodle sauce. Sometimes get adventurous and chose something that we haven't had before and don't really know what is off the menu and haven't been disappointed yet.
I'm hungover now and this is making me really hungry ... I'm assuming this place is just as good sober. If I can pull myself off the couch I might visit for lunch. It's open 24 hours and there are multiple locations :P

Love this place
Even though this is a very typical Chinese restaurant meaning service is not good, but I have to say the food is very good. I love this place is because I can go and eat there anytime I want.
Si Chuan, Shang Hai, Canton etc, whatever the food they make are very close to the original one. A little bit pricy, but not too bad. they have happy hour after 12am. Enjoy the dim sum and the best roast duck in China. :) YUM!

Jin Ding Xuan
The store is open 24 hours, that is, more than people generally need to wait here, still lot of people even 2am,Snacks are particularly good volume of small dishes, but delicious, the general number of people almost done several dishes. Main Cantonese-style many variety flavors dish, authentic taste, price cheap. some of their shop is 24 hours a day, point is no matter what is food and non food time, business always is good and serving speed inevitably slow.

Love to have options and late night food
There are likes and dislikes of this brand and different branch has different taste level.
Like their menu, huge list of all kinds of food, desert from cheap to dear
Like 24 hours idea 'cause I like to eat out during 2:00 am after KTV or bar starving!
Dislike their auction going-on every few hours...noisy! The desert has plenty choices and it has discount after 10:30PM. I like the most - Cow Tail, Chicken Feet, Cantonese noodles strips

Dependable fallback when everywhere else is closed
I've been to the Lama Temple branch of this place a few times, and although the atmosphere is fun (there's always a lot of people) the food is very, very ordinary - limp, overly oily and uninspired.
I wouldn't really even call it Cantonese cuisine. It's more a pale imitation - or what someone who's never been to Hong Kong might think Cantonese food is like.
The main thing this place has going for it is that it's open 24 hours, making it a dependable fallback when everywhere else is closed. When it's late and you have no other option, the food seems ok. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.
