Let's Burger
A standout among Beijing’s burgeoning burger joints, Let’s Burger serves a wide range of variations on this American classic. Options range from the humble hamburger (RMB 48) or cheeseburger (RMB 58) up to the Let’s classic burger (RMB 148), which decorates the patty with bacon and a slice of foie gras and the indulgent Wagyu burger. Salads, appetizers and desserts round out the menu and the fries alone could constitute a meal (five types, around RMB 20-25) – try them with the 12 sauces on offer, especially the blue cheese sauce, wasabi mayonnaise and tangy barbecue relish. Voted “Best Burger” in the Beijinger’s 2009 Restaurant Awards.

Yummo!
Came here last weekend, had the Mexicano burger and Spicy Fries.
The burger was quite massive for me but it was really good.
On the other hand, the supposedly spicy fries is not spicy at all!
Love the sauce bar although I wish they have something more spicy as none of the sauce are.
Nice decor & atmosphere. Will comeback again.
awful milkshake...
The first time I went there I ordered a burger and a coke..and it was so so...
The second time I went there in the afternoon just to spend sometime I ordered a milkshake...and it was totally a sh*t...
NO third time...
Gotta pass on this one
Had dinner there last Friday night and I must say Lett's is simply not worth it. I have dined there several times in the past year and the quality has been steadily slipping. Last night the burger was quite poor. Improperly cooked, meaningfully smaller than usual and the quality of the ground beef was pretty bad: gristle and bone chips throughout. I was interested to notice that one of the women at the table next to mine found a clump of hair in her salad. Waitstaff promptly took it away and offered a replacement, but come on folks.. what is up with kitchen hygiene and work practice? You are not a kebab stand; to the contrary you charge an high price for what is supposed to be high quality. High price yes, quality not. Witnessing the salad fiasco and the bits and pieces inside my overcooked burger is enough to make me not return and to make sure to share the experience here.
Expensive burgers
While I have enjoyed burgers as a anytime meal option and each time
I thought I could be fine even it was just fine, this place was disappointing.Mine was the chicken burger and my friend had ordered a prawn burger. There was too much cheese and the cheese wasnt likable ,I just didnt like it.
The sauces were good, the bread was fresh ,but the burger wasnt done well.
My friends burger somehow was done well, not mine. I just ate up my burger with the different sauces available and finished my meal.
The decor is good, the people at the place fine, I find it expensive by any standards.
Best burgers in town
Inspite of a more pricier, this restaurant serves the best burgers in town. Must visit.
Nice place
While the burgers and the drinks -everything seem expensive, the fact is that the quality of meat is good. The wagyu beef burger is good. The variety and quality of sauces is good.
Their ordering system is different and if you are one person it could be inconvenient .
The place has great decor and makes one cheer up.
Place to visit once in a while if you love burgers as there is something special about this burgers. The taste is different and nice.
Worth visit once a fortnight if you love burgers.
Their veggie burger was a let down
As a life-long vegetarian I've had my fair share of veggie burgers, but, living in Beijing, not for a while. So I was pleased to find out that they offer one here. Unfortunately I would say that if you are veggie stick with the fries and/or the salads. The presentation was nice but the burger itself was tasteless, mushy and fell apart as soon as I picked it up. The mushroom and other vegetables in the bun weren't bad though.
On everything else I echo previous reviewers - great courtyard setting, decor, service, fries and the sauce bar is awesome. Prices are steep but portions are generous.
Let's: My Guilty Pleasure
I constantly think about eating healthy (keyword: "think"), and I used to see Let's as a guilty pleasure. At the end of a stressful day or when out w/friends and starving on a Sunday night, Let's is the go-to place. I tend to always order the original burger, fries or chili fries, and a diet coke. Not really the diet food any of us are looking for, but god, we only live once right?
The service is pretty good; usually, as soon as you walk in, a waitress will come up and say hello and direct you towards a table or the ordering counter.
The burger is delicious. Juicy, lots of veggies on top. The bun is good for the first few bites, but then the burger is so juicy that the bun becomes soggy and sometimes falls apart.
The fries are fresh out of the cooker, burning hot. Let them cool off and try them with the Thai hot sweet & sour sauce! That's another thing about Let's; they have a good selection of sauces for you to try.
The chili fries come in this big bowl, smothered in cheese. Share this, it's near impossible to finish by yourself.
I've also tried their fish burger (good, but I'm a red meat type of girl). Their seared tuna salad is delicious as well, has caviar sprinkled on top, nice fresh greens, but not very filling.
A friend just came up while I was writing this review, and we agreed: Let's is a little on the pricey side.
If you get what I always do: original burger, fries, diet coke, that'll run you RMB 86. [That's ~$13 for us Americans.] But the burgers/fries here are really good; there's no comparison to McD's or whatever. Also for comparison purposes, I've had the famed Daniel Boulud burger, and I would take Let's 5-1 on that. (Sorry Chef Boulud!)
Also, if you want to sit outside and enjoy the evening breeze, there is outdoor seating available in the little patio area. Great selection of jazz music, and the black and white checkered floors/green seats provide a comfortable and relaxing environment.
Decent burger and love the interior design but the price turns me off
No complaints on the taste and presentation of the burger here, and I live the interior design of the place -- reminiscent of a classic American diner -- but the price of the burger really turns me off. It's just hard to stomach the thought that you are paying more than USD 10 for a burger.
great burgers at a high price
I actually really enjoyed my sandwich today. I had heard some iffy reviews on this place being overpriced and sucking and such, but today my friend and I stopped in and we were pleasantly surprised. I have to admit, I am becoming more local all the time and the prices here are pretty high, but the french fries are really good (and made fresh)--especially topped with chili con carne. I ordered and enjoyed the chicken burger, which was a breast of chicken served on a perfectly soft bun with mozzarella cheese, coleslaw, lettuce and tomato. I was super juicy. My friend ordered the mexican burger and she said that it was the best burger shes had in Beijing. The condiment bar was a nice touch--we tried the sweet-spicy sauce and the bbq sauce (both with added hot sause) and the wasabi mayo. All were good, but could have been hotter/spicier.
Good food, decent prices and painfully high prices...whats not to love?
Too expensive !
Except for fancy packaging and charming decor, the value of the food ,the portion and taste wise dont match the price. The taste is not bad , but not so good for the price.
Good but too expensive
Let’s Burger, located on the first floor of the Nali Patio, They offer at least a dozen kind of burgers. Tried the Wgyu beef burger (RMB168). Also had their Curry Fries(served in a cup). The food is good but price is quite high compared to the quantity.
Taking a bite out of Let’s
My first concern when casting a critical eye upon this establishment is that the proprietors to whom I entrust my digestion appear to think the word “burger” is a verb.
Have you ever had a conversation thus:
“What shall we do for food tonight Nigel?” Your friend asks you innocently. “I’ve got an idea Seb,” you reply. “Let’s BURGER!”
“Burger off”, “Jitterburger”, “Ingrid Burgerman” - I can think of a dozen better names without a shred of industry experience.
Dining within.
A nervous member of staff asked me how many people I was, lead me to what was the only available seat in the house anyway and then informed me it was counter service only.
Admittedly, there are few things in life that give me greater pleasure than whipping a displeasing Chinese server into line with a few sharp words so I thank the management for this opportunity.
I opted for the sampler of three mini-burgers. The presentation was pleasing enough.
The foie gras burger was rather disappointing when one considers an innocent duck was force-fed grain until its distended liver became painfully engorged with hepatic steatosis for my dining pleasure. I’d like to become engorged with a delicious taste, thank you, not a bland alternative to beef.
The mini seafood burger with caviar was acceptable.
The mini "original" burger was acceptable.
I returned a second time to meet a friend. The paving outside STILL had not been completed (can’t we find a few coolies in this town?) and the pubescent security guard in uniform three sizes too big for his measly frame was surly as ever as I tethered my trusted Flying Pigeon to a secure post.
My friend was ensconced in conversation with a young lady and was rather too full of himself for my liking – perhaps the meal had left ample room?
The full-size "original" burger was acceptable.
A wide range of sauces seem tantalising though exactly how “tangy” or “zesty” can one make a burger? Perhaps the management wish to allude to the possibility of the ultimate taste explosion – a tangy, zesty, spicy, juicy, peppery, puckery burgermoth.
The range of alcoholic drinks was a pleasant surprise with many bottles having been imported from Great Britain ensuring not only an acceptable level of quality but a price that will surely keep the zhapi-and-zhongnanhai crowd at a safe distance.
Having behaved like a complete and total cad throughout my meal without raising an eyebrow from the Chinese staff I gauge they are used to dealing with a semi-respectable clientele.
All in all, if you are accustomed to fine dining but fancy slumming it in close proximity to the Tongli trough there are worse options out there.
Eghhhhhh
I have eaten at let's burger about a half dozen times since they opened and I have been less impressed on each occasion. The kitchen staff seem to be capable of preparing the burger one of two ways, very well done or very rare. Deviate from those two choices and you will be left disappointed.
They also seem to follow the gourmet burger trend, and just don't measure up. Order anything more than cheese on the burger and the bun will go to pieces unless you speed eat. It would also behoove them to note on the menu that unless otherwise specified all burgers will come with thousand island dressing.
If they opened the place 4 years ago it would be the best place for a burger in the city, today it is just another slightly over priced western restaurant serving dead average food.
Good food, but prices a bit on high side.
This is becoming one of my family's favourite joint. I think food there is great, portions are generous. No free water that's true. But I think it's a much better joint than other burger places in that area.
expensive and no free water
good location, but other than that, it was over 100rmb for a burger thats served cafeteria style. they just nickel and dime you for everything there, including water. if u hate getting ripped off because u of the foreigner thing in china, then avoid this place.
Decreasing quality...
When I tried Let's Burger the first time in October 2008, it was really great food and atmosphere.
A second time in December: great food but with closed restaurant doors due to winter temperatures the air quality inside was really bad, as the exhaust system does not manage to get the frying fat odors sucked out from the open kitchen.
A third try in February 2009: same bad air quality, the food quality decreased to "good", the wine glass barely with any wine inside (was filled up after complaint) and starters coming after main course.
For desert we went upstairs next door to Union Grill - much better experience!
May be I will try again when temperatures are high enough for open doors and outside seating.
A nice place, a good location, and a damn good burger and fries
I live in the Haidian District, but I do get over to Sanlitun a few times a month for various reasons. As a patron of other restaurants and shops over there Let's Burger is a good burger place in a convenient location. I have been to Let's Burger three times. The first time I was very pleased with the burger, but not so happy with the fries. However, they made up for it the second and third time I went there and those fries are nice, hearty and tasty. I am one of those 'steak' fries freaks that like to taste potato when I bight into a "chip"/fry.
As for the hamburger, although I think the price a bit more than I would like to pay. I get the original hamburger and settle for a nice helping of veg and go wild with the nice variety of sauces. Don't over do it with the sauce though, unless you are wearing a plastic bag, but ooooh it is so good. Is this the best place for a burger, not sure, but I plan to go back. You see, I love to shop at UNI QLO, get my shirts and trousers made at Ya Show and afterwards hit the DVD shops in houjie as well, so Let's Burger is a nice place to get a good meal. To be able to sit in a restaurant that has a nice ambience to it that will allow you to escape the trappings of Beijing, you cannot go wrong. So you might ask, why not give it 5 stars? Well, I haven't had too many things off their menu, second the price is a bit steep, and service (though good) can use some improvement.
Oh yes, gotta have the Chocolate Moose Cake is "to live for." I know the expression is "to die for." But if you die for it, you won't get to eat it.
lets burger
4.25 just because I am a complicated person.
Tonight was the first time I have eaten at this restaurant. Before I ate there, I read all of the reviews on here. They are all pretty accurate. I had the plain burger, with the plain fries and the bill was 68rmb. In my opinion, it was worth it.
The burger was good and juicy, but rather on the small side. The bread was delicious. The fries ARE steak fries, not ifs or buts. The already mentioned sauces really do make the place special. I had both types of hot sauce, the sweet and sour, and whatever the "House Sauce" is that they put on the burger....all of which were delicious.
I loved the atmosphere of the place. I read that some people thought it was too fancy for a burger joint, I disagree. If you pay 68rmb for a hamburger is most parts of the world, you deserve a decent atmosphere. It reminds me of a hip coffee shop turned into a modern, laid back casual dining place.
By far the best burger I have had in town. Blows the heck out of Grandmas
Good burger, heavy on the wallet
I would have given this place a 3.5, but since there is no such choice, 4 stars it is.
This place seems a little over-decorated for a hamburger joint, and it seems that you can't sit on all those cool bar stools, but the environment is comfortable and quiet, and they provide free wifi for those inclined to surf (although no electrical outlets for your laptop).
I had a regular cheeseburger here, and it was good: a huge bun with a lot of stuff inside of it, but a good blend of sauces and ingredients, none of which overwhelmed the taste. Plenty of juices running out of this burger.
The fries served here are thick -- bordering on steak fries, of which some might not be fans. However, this place has a special sauce bar, where you can choose from all sorts of sauces and dips to put on your fries. I stuck with the traditional mayo and ketchup, but everybody seemed to be getting quite creative with them. Without the sauces, I would have avoided the fries outright, with the sauces: yums!
The big downside to this place is the price: It's extremely expensive. 100+ RMB for a burger, fries, and drink seems pretty outrageous to me, but a lot of people seem to have the mindset that if an expat joint doesn't break that 100 barrier, it's okay. Drinks are particularly expensive, with soft drinks being the only thing below 20 RMB (18) while coffees and smoothies go well in the high 20s and 30s even ...
So, if you're feeling "saucy", and want to treat yourself to an expensive Sanlitun expat meal before a night on the town, give this place a try: You'll enjoy the food.
