Lily's American Diner
The owner of this Shuangjing restaurant cut her teeth at Steak and Eggs; she’s now created a menu of her own offering a sizeable selection of classically greasy North American and Tex-Mex fare like cheeseburgers, roast beef melt subs and chicken or beef fajitas. All-day breakfast specials including buttermilk pancakes with two eggs, plus bacon, sausage or ham. Generously sized beef burritos come wrapped in suitably soft, yet resilient tortillas, with assorted vegetables and “Lily’s spices.” The beef nachos aren’t quite like those in Texas, but they’re entirely edible by Beijing standards.

Good option for good comfort food
For simple, fairly authentic American food and really good, friendly service, Lily's does a great job. We go to the Sihui location all the time and it's always good and most importantly, consistent, which is hard to find here. Their Tony's pizza and their pulled pork sandwiches are truly excellent, and the rest of the food is ok but nothing special by American standards. But for Beijing, it's good.

I love Lily's!
good food, delivered to my door, at affordable prices. I love Lily's for lunch, for dinner, or for late night study snack. I've had their pizza (good, esp for the price, when compared with other places), their nachos (ok, could have used more guac and probably not the best as a delivered food), onion rings (yummy!) and something else...don't remember. anyway, can't beat the convenience if u live in shuangjing.

Best Burgers in Shuangjing
Just to balance out all the fake 1 star posts from Lily's competitors....I've had at least 100 burgers, and patty melts from there...never been sick, and usually top notch...although a few were a little well done. The Lily's Burger with coleslaw and bacon is awesome. Also, she will replace any order if you aren't satisfied...they also have a very large delivery range...

Ordered a hamburger and have been sick all day
Yesterday night I ordered for the first time (Sihui) and the food itself was ok. However, this morning I woke up at five in the morning and have been visiting the toilet every half hour since then. Not cool. I’m sure that the Lily’s food was the cause because it didn’t eat anything else the whole day. I usually never review any restaurants but because it was my first experience with food poisoning I guess I felt obligated to mention this. Won’t order their food anymore.

I dont understand the good comments
I ordered twice burgers meals there (just to be sure) and the burger meat is really disgusting and the burger itself is just not good.
I think this "restaurant" become popular, in part, because its an american restaurant that has been made from scratch by a Chinese...

Love the new dishes
Just wanted to say, some of the dishes on the new menu are really excellent. They have Hot Turkey open face sandwich, Fish and Chips, Shrimp Quesadilla, and a new wrap called 'Ross Mums Wrap', a suggestion they apparently received from one of their customers. How many places do you see who take suggestions from customers and then execute it live on their menu? This follows up the pulled pork sandwich from last year- Lilys was the first place I saw this in Beijing, and now you can see it on many menus around town. Keep up the great work.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
As a regular customer, I was extremely disappointed with the customer service that Lily's provided my roommate and I. My roommate ordered the guacamole late last night, right before closing. She opened it up to discover a thick black hair in the midst of her food. By that time, it had been too late to call Lily's. After she came home from work today, she called Lily's, hoping to get a refund, or at least be able to switch it with the chicken wings, which are cheaper than the guacamole. At first they said they'd have to take the guacamole back to check for themselves, since our word was not good enough. They called back later to inform her that they were not only refusing to substitute her order with the chicken wings, but refused to give her a refund because she had not called within the hour.
We've been ordering from Lily's several times a week for nearly a year now. Not a single complaint in the time we've been patronizing their restaurant. But this is the first time there was a problem with the food, and the problem was so poorly handled that I doubt I will be ordering from there again. Apparently they haven't learned that it's more expensive to attract a new customer than it is to keep an old one.

Good food, good prices, good delivery
I have nothing bad to say about Lily's. The prices are very fair, the food is good, and I always enjoy the meal. I see that there were some problems in the past, but I have been going there every few weeks for about 4 months, and have never had a bad experience.

Don't believe any bad review about this place
I live in Shuangjing and have been to Lily's tons of times. It is not the greatest food in the world but it is pretty good, and at least you get your money's worth. If you go to the Brick or Grinder's you can expect to pay double for the same thing at Lily's (sodas, beer, etc), and the burgers at Lily's are better than Grinder's in my opinion. I would say it is not really worth a taxi ride in order to try it, but if you live nearby and are craving some Western food, Lily's is a great choice.
All day breakfast + decent dinner options + fair prices = win.

I like the jumbo breakfast
I like to get up early and try to breakfast places in Beijing, and the jumbo breakfast at Lily's in my opinion is batter than all the other beijing places for american breakfast. The bacon is crispy and perfect, and the country ham is the best. It is a generous plate of food at a fair price and the coffee is good and you get refills. I am pretty sure ou will not be disappointed if you get up early and head to Lilys for the Jumbo breakfast.

Depends on your nationality
I've eaten in Lilly's a few times, and have ordered from them numerous times over the last year or so.
The quality of the food is decent. It ain't great - there's almost always some other place in Beijing that does it much better - whether its pizza, or a burger or mexican. BUT... its serviceable, convenient, and their delivery service is near flawless.
That said, I hate to play the race card, but its happened too many times not to comment. If I call and place an order... no problem. I've always experienced nice, polite service. Even with the language difference. If my Chinese GF places the order... without fail, whomever she speaks with is rude. They bust her chops on the order, or the address, or SOMETHING. One time, she even got scolded for having an old delivery menu. Um... yeah, cuz its our job as customers to keep up to date with your freaking menus.
No idea what that's about, since Lily's Chinese. And I know this isn't unique to us. I know of at least 3 other Chinese who've been treated rudely at Lily's on several occasions.
I don't run a competing restaurant - this isn't a case of sour grapes or something. See my review history. I'm just telling it like we've experienced it, and like several other people have told me that they did, too.

Continues to deliver
Each time I visit the diner, I come away satisfied. Joe and Lily have been delivering high quality american fare to the ShuangJing area for over 2 years now. It starts with their passion for the food. There are plenty of knock off western restaurants in Beijing who serve dishes but could care less about how their western food actually tastes. Joe and Lily have enough experience to actually have a sense for how the food they serve should look and taste. That is a competence you just won't find at any locally owned western restaurants. Joe is always experimenting with dishes, adjusting ingredients and looking for new things that work. Take for example, his hand-made buns, I have been in the diner several times when Joe was experimenting different seeds on top and different ingredients about to adjust thickness. Joe and Lily care about their dishes and try to innovate. Have you tried the pulled pork sandwich? It is really good and it took Joe many months to source the right pork and get this sandwich just right. Now you see other restaurants copying the pulled pork sandwich- Lily's was the first to bring it to Beijing. Or how about the Lily's burger which includes coleslaw in the burger- it simply works and is very popular. They have a small location, but Joe and Lily keep it clean and prices affordable- which is not easy for a restaurant is Beijing these days. I highly recommend a visit to Lily's American Diner.

Convenient place for CBD residents
I really like Lily's because they deliver until midnight, provide good service and make decent American food. In particular, the chicken sandwich and the burrito are pretty good, especially after a long workday. As a resident of Shuangjing, I go to Lily's fairly often. The food is consistent and nearly everything on the menu is either decent or good. However, I don't think there's anything on the menu that is spectacular, but given the price and convenience, I can't complain. If I didn't live in the area, I probably wouldn't go to Lily's often.

Not the high quality Dining place
Yes this delivers an menu names which we all love. But the flavour of the american food doesnt come close to real American food.Lillys food doesnt come close to any of Element Fresh, Union Bar and Grill, Blue frog Burgers .Not even 50 % close.
Unless you are starving for American food you go here and the other choice is chinese food which for some reason you dont want to eat then lily`s works.

Will be back
Just came back from a meal at Lily's Diner and I will probably be back in the future. After reading the mixed reviews, I wasn't so sure about heading there. But given the reasonable prices, I gave it a go. For me, this a good alternative to heading to the Gongti/Sanlitun area for similar food at twice the price. The Garden salad was fresh and pizza tasted good. No complaints about the food. I hope the locals in this area continue to support this place. For the price, it's 3 to 4 star in my books.

Lily's Diner Tumbs Down!
Lily's used to be a good place, the food was always decent. It seems that the quality of food gets worse everytime I eat there. That is the problem with a businesses in China. Once they gain a loyal following and or fame, they cut corners to screw people over until they finally close down or sell shop.
The Chinese do not get that in order to have a successful business with longevity, you cannot screw people over. I will no longer patronize Lily's there are far better venues to spend my hard earned RMB, Lily's is not one of them.

Average and below average
The final test of a restaurant is the quality of the food .
Yes in shuangjing there was a need to have a all day american breakfast with coffee at a reasonable price and thats what lilys deliver but the quality of food is deteriorated.
I had once few months ago -passable, nothing great but I still never felt to go back for food again.
There are a lot of expats who need western food to be delivered or eat there at resonable price, but they also need good taste and good quality breads and such.
Suggest Lilys is a good idea but should improve.
There are some good customers of lilys i know and they keep get frustrated that lilys is just not improving.

Avoid the last two posts
The last two posters have been trashing the same places at the same time(if you take a look at their tracks). But they may have some points - beef has the taste and flavour of beef and pork has the taste and flavor of pork... Lucky for me, I never was served pork when ordering beef, or the other way around. And I am really not sure why would any restaurant replace pork with beef because neither of them is expensive item anyways.
I just couldn't help defending Lily after reading her interview in Agenda and becoming a regular customer ever since. This Lucy-Liu-like girl is surely hard-working, honest and very sweet!
Food is authentic for sure, even the pumpkin pie and turkey sandwach they make occasionally are very good. And you just can't believe the money you pay for those food! The imported Dr. pepper and raw beer are only RMB 10. And even so, they still have daily happy hour with discounts on most drinks if not all. Checking their daily specials is fun and exciting.
Service is great too although some times it takes a bit longer for them to cook. But I understand they have a small staff and a small kitchen. Enviorment is probably the worst of Lily's. But considering their background, it really is the best they can possibly do.
I think Lily is the Chinese version of the so called 'american dream'. And she just keeps getting better and better. There were a few times my friends and I had to wait for a table!

Avoid
I wanted to see what the big hub bub was about at Lily's and since I was craving a burger I popped in for a bite one afternoon.
The menu selection is fair, with most American style dishes being served.
The hamburger was not made of beef, but of pork. The meat lacked the flavor of beef but had the smell and taste of pork. Beef when cooked turns brown due to the higher iron content of the meat and higher glucose. Pork on the other hand has low levels of iron so the meat does not brown. Pork also has a distinct pork smell and flavor.
Avoid these scammers.

Degradation of Quality, no longer good. Avoid
Lily's has gone down hill since her famous review in the Beijinger. The place is no longer open 24 Hours, even though I just got a menu that says they are open 24 x 7. The other day, the pizza arrived via delivery and the pizza looked like someone tossed it around and stomped on it before delivering it. When I called and complained they exchanged it but the second pizza was cold.
The quality has gone down so much due to her popularity that she no longer cares about customer service or customer satisfaction.
Sad, Lily's used to be a good place for food...
