Malacca Legend 马六甲传奇

This elaborate Malaysian restaurant boasts serene water views and zesty Southeast Asian cuisine, as well as catering services and delivery in the Shunyi area. Popularity among local residents attests to its staying power, though the Luoma Lake locale may be too far for the casual diner. Never fear, the second location in Chaoyang brings the authentic and affordable Malaysian cuisine closer to your fingertips.

All good

Went to the Shunyi branch on Roma lake a couple of weeks ago and was really impressed. Service was very good from the minute we got in the door. Pleasant layout inside and the area around the lake makes a decent change of scenery and there's an outdoor seating are that will probably be nice in the summer. We were there on a weekday lunchtime and it was pretty busy. Everything we ordered was good, a little spicier than I expected but I'm all for that. The seafood soup (Laksa?) had a lively kick to it and plenty of seafood to chew on. Curry was better than I expected and much prefer it to the Thai style. What else? Everything was just really good and reasonable value at CNY200-250 for two with drinks.

Best Malaysian Food in Beijing

There are quite a few Malaysian places popping up around Beijing these days. Malay food is really good, fresh and flavorful. Malacca Legend is the freshest and most flavorful in Beijing and worth traveling all the way to Shunyi for a feed.

My all-time favourite

As a Malaysian, I think this restaurant has one of the best Malaysian dishes. I have been to the Shunyi branch many times with my family because it is one of the closest to "home" food.

The atmosphere is nice and they have pretty good service too, its never over-crowded and its easy to find parking. Although I have to agree that the Shunyi one is a bit far out.

The only unsatisfying dish so far is the Chicken Rice Balls, its the only dish that isn't made the right way. Instead of hand-rolling the rice into a ball, it looked like they used an ice-cream scoop.

Pricing is decent, its like how you would find in any Beijing restaurant.

Overall I think Malacca Legend is quite a good restaurant that goes a bit unnoticed because the Shunyi branch is hidden away and sits by a lake. But I'd say give it a try, you won't be disappointed. I've been to a couple of Malaysian restaurants throughout Beijing but I always go back to this one. ;)

Very tasty Malaysian

I've been here twice and both times I left smacking my lips together wondering when I could trek it out of the city again.

Went with a large group of people both times and service was ok considering how many of us there were.

This place has hands down the best Chicken Satay in Beijing. I have had my share...and I love theirs!

Like I said... only disappointing that it is out in Shunyi. Please open one in the city so regular people can enjoy the tasty food too!
