Mao Mao Chong 毛毛虫
Mao Mao Chong's drinks selection includes house vodka infusions as well as lager and ale options. The food menu includes affordable salads and pizzas. The hot drinks menu is another cornerstone of the bar's appeal. Monthly drinks deals, themed music nights and the house-designed T-shirts and artwork are the remaining trademarks.

Wednesdays.
Great bar, great drinks, great location, I try to go there often. Despite the below protestations, note that I gave the place 4-stars, which is better than what most cult-classic movies get.
That said, an anecdote...
A few weeks ago a friend related an ridiculous discussion she'd had with some of the staff at that milky tea bubble whatever place on NLGX. She wanted a shake, I believe, with bubbles in it. They absolutely refused with total disdain for her request and visible astonishment with the wiliness of her apparently absurd idea. She pushed the point out of curiosity, and after the manager contacted the national offices and spoke with the executive, the flat refusal to concoct this diabolical brew disseminated from on-high down to my buddy and then me. I marked how goofy this was and thought to myself that it would never happen in America (a nostalgic remark, mind you), only to get to MaoMaoChong and have them flat-out refuse to make me a Sazarac (a dash of a pastis away from was available on their menu). On another occasion at pffft after midnight I was denied the Wednesday-nite drink special, as it had just become Thursday. Only a couple weeks before such an extension had been granted casually.
My only other beef is the high prices, but it's understandable as the place is consistently packed and their cocktails are really exceptional. Wednesdays are best for prices, not for crowds, but reality dons at the stroke of midnite!

good
Good place to chill-out.
Very good service and very good snacks (try the olives and peanuts)
Unfortunately cocktails are not impressive.

Excellent selection of original cocktails
I'm a non-drinker, and even I was impressed with this place. Original cocktails at a decent price. If I ever have friends in town who are drinkers, I would take them to this place first.

Good vibe
Drinks were good serve chilled . Simple things but getting right matters.
The servers were enthusiastic to serve, quite a uncommon thing.
The vibe was good at this place. Only thing is quite at one end of the city and we dont go quite often this side.

Better than the bars in Hong Kong
After living in Hong Kong for a long long time, I am sick of the bars in lan kwai fong, because they have no character.
I am glad my friend took me to this wonderful bar in Beijing, it makes my night life a lot better.
Their Chocolate pizza is GREAT! Rich chocolate with fresh blood orange, plus the Rum and Raisin ice-cream - Yum!
The owners make their own ice, ask for a shot of whiskey if you liked the big rectangle ice, or one of their new cocktails if you wanted their ball shape ice with Rosemary in it. Fancy!
I had the most enjoyable experience here and I will go back there again and again. Because the service is good, the quality of the food and drinks are great!

I think it is Number 3.
Mao Mao Chong is the 5th king of the crusts in Beijing (says by Timeout) and personally I think it should be the 3rd. Their non-greasy gourmet pizzas just like what you have in Italy.
This place is one of the best cocktail bars in Beijing, their thoughtful and amazing winter drinks made my night! Adult Chai and Cookie are my favorites. Their hot chocolate is a lot better than most the hot chocolate in Beijing - Rich and Nice, apparently they use the real coco instead of the drinking chocolate powder.
And I LOVE their NON-SMOKING policy!

Worth a look.
One of the coolest bars in Beijing. We nearly froze to death while visting Beijing but found the perfect solution for warming up at Mao Mao Chong. Their warm winter cocktails are easily the best in town and well worth venturing down the hutongs. The bartender is also awesome.

Great pizza, cocktails and atmosphere
The pizza is fantastic, the booze is legit, the prices are reasonable, and the owners are incredibly friendly. Honestly, what more could you ask for? I can see Mao Mao Chong becoming one of my favorite places in Beijing when it gets warmer - the 20 minute walk from my apartment is just a little too far for me to visit too often right now. :)
It's a little off the beaten path, but well worth the 5 minute walk from NLGX.

Best Cocktails and Best Pizzas!
Modern mixology, like today’s fine cuisine, has become a throw-down to see who can create the most complex, fascinating drinks with new flavors and nifty ingredients. Mao Mao Chong's mixologists provide a list of fantastic creative cocktails.
If you are looking for high quality but reasonably price classic cocktails, served by informative mixologists, this is the place too. They make THE BEST BLOODY MARY (also their bloody mao), MARGARITA, LONG ISLAND ICE TEA, MAI TAI, and CLASSIC MARTINI. (At least the best among the bars I have been in Beijing). Their Old Fashioned and Mojitos are very good too. When I said they are the best, trust me, they are really the best.
And they have the BEST pizzas in town.

Consistently Great and Special
As far as Beijing drinking options go, this might be one of the better ones! Owners Steven and Stephanie's dedication to their craft and their attention to quality makes this place in a league of its own.
The cocktails are originals with many of their own creations/recipes that are definitely worth a taste and sure to get a giggle or two out of you. but what is impressive is how they're getting their classics done! The white russian is exquisite, the Moscow Mule ( and it's CArribean cousin, the Jamaican mule) refreshing. Now, they've tackled the Original Trader's Vicks Mai Tai and have done one hell of a job getting it almost perfect... it's that dedication that sets Mao Mao Chong apart from the rest.
The Pizza are very much above par for beijing with quality ingredient and fresh dough.
another plus is the non-smoking environment.. even as a smoker myself, i appreciate getting home after a night out drinking and not smelling like an ashtray..
Keep it up guys and i'll keep coming.

Great atmosphere, good pizza and cocktails
We went to Mao Mao Chong after reading some reviews on The Beijinger. And...we completely agree with all the positive reviews! The bar is well-located just off Nanluoguxiang, it has a no-nonsense atmosphere, and very friendly staff. We love their mojitos, and their pizza is definitely worth ordering. A bit bland, but just ask for tabasco/salt and you'll love the pizza. They use fresh ingredients, and the pizza crust is delicious. Don't forget to check out their daily discounts!

Hutong vibe without the pretentiousness
This is a great family-run small hutong bar. The pizzas are tasty and they have a good range of unique cocktails using their own infused vodkas. I love the renovations they have done and it's a bonus that a hutong bar has it's own western toilet. Highly recommend checking out this place.

Creative, Superlative
If you have an insatiable appetite for cocktails, mao mao chong is the right place for you. The drinks menu offers a thirst-bustingly wide selection of Stephen's cocktail creations as well as carefully selected spirits and beers. They were even unswervingly accommodating for a companion who wanted a non-alcoholic selection! The surroundings are cool, atmospheric with the focus being on you having a great time, every time.

Great Drinks and Ambiance, Friendly Staff
Though its a stretch to call Mao Mao Chong's new location NLGX, it actually benefits from a bit of distance from the overcrowded strip. Close to JiaoDaoKou and not all that far from its old home on WuDaoYing, Mao Mao Chong serves up a bevy of fun drinks in its converted HuTong locale. Artwork and ambiance, including a friendly wait and bar staff, make the experience complete.
Though I've not eaten here, I've been tempted by the food menu. The drinks are what do it for me. The beer menu is just right - not too many unnecessary brews and just the right number of good options. But the real reason to come to Mao Mao Chong is for the specialty drinks - new ones are added occasionally but the tried and trues stay on the menu and the infusions brewing behind the bar remind you where the flavor comes from.

I love the pizza and I don't even like pizza.
Great place to work up for a night out stocking up on carbs and excellent alcohol (imported beer, plenty of cocktails and seasonal specials). All the bar tenders are really great hosts. Non smoking - which is the way to go!! Good unique decor designed by Stephen, with t-shirts available.

Buono!
You can't be living in Beijing without having the real Italian gourmet pizza, and Mao Mao Chong Bar Pizza is a great place to start. The restaurant has its special character. Stephen serves classic pizzas, like margherita (mozzarella and tomato), they are simple but great Italian pizzas that will leave you saying, "Buono!"
Creative owner Stephen a.k.a the pizza chef also leads you to a wonderland of cocktails. Cheap and reliable, delicious and special. You don't want to miss out no matter you are living in the Jing or you are just visiting.

Good Newcomer
The new bar pizza with friendly owners still; a bigger and better space with great italian styled pizza (the best dough ever)! Chocolate pizza is the treasure with a cup of coffee.
A hidden gem with great music, self-designed good quality t-shirts and great home made infused vodka.
Where else am I havin my birthday party?

Agreed
Agree with the last reviewer...
I've never been to the OLD location, but stopped by Friday night at the new spot, just off NLGX.
Really liked it. Good vibe, great owners/bartender, fantastic drinks (tried several of the infused vodkas, which were quite tasty), good prices.
I'll definitely be going back, and would say that its worth a trip - or a quick jaunt down the hutong alley if you're in that area.

New location even better than the old...
so mao mao chong has moved down to a hutong between jiaodaokou and nanluoguxiang. the new location is awesome. same comfy vibe as the old place, but it's bigger and better (some great pizzas coming out of their new kitchen, new drinks like homemade lemongrass-infused vodka). stephen and stephanie, the owners, are still playing great music, and are still as cool as ever: friendly as hell. there's some new, fantastic artwork on the walls and more room to stretch your legs, but i prefer my seat right there at the bar, thank you very much, having a drink an unwinding.
solid.
