Schindler's Anlegestelle (Schindler's Docking Station) 申德勒码头餐厅

The Sanlitun sister of Schindler's Tankstelle (the Filling Station) has much in common with the original – including the same great sausages and pork knuckle as well as two-for-one draft beer during happy hour (5.30-7.30pm) and great German food. The Docking Station has a larger, lighter feel, with towering ceilings and a wide-open dining room.

Proper Lunch for Big Lads

Review of Schindler's Anlegestelle (Schindler's Docking Station)

Good deal on the RMB70 lunch buffet here, especially if you like meat. They have large a selection of main dishes from which you ought to be able to find plenty to enjoy as well as either a special roast joint or a doner-style kebab. Limited salad and dessert selection; it’s all about the mains. One drink included (soft drinks or local beer). On some days they have some really good lamb chops that would cost a fortune a la carte.

Great German Food.

I've had German food made for me at home, but I've never been to a German restaurant (they're not popular in the rural US) and I was really happy with this place. Went there this weekend on a Sunday afternoon, and though ALL of the tables outside were reserved in advance (including a 6 person table used by 2 people, really?) the inside wasn't bad at all.

Service was slightly above average for Beijing, but I liked that the waitress repeated our order with good pronunciation of the dishes, and the beers were fast. It was nice to have decent dark bread with SALTED butter, the bread was nice, crusty and warm. I ordered the pair of Rostbratwurst with Sauerkraut and Kartoffel (2 sausages, pickled cabbage and mashed taters). Food took a little while, but I was pleased when it came out. Food was warm, good serving of mustard in the middle and after a few Prost!s we got to eating. The sausages were done well, I was really happy with them. The potatoes weren't the that flavourful, but not terrible. The Sauerkraut was nicely done, and there was a heaping portion on my plate.

I thought it was worth 52 RMB, I was stuffed at the end, and thoroughly satisfied. No caterpillars, no hassle with the staff, not a bad day!

First one of all, if the restaurant had any class, it should been free meals for whole table. Especially when it is only 3 people. Food get waived when there is a hair in it, not when there is a bug. When there is a bug, the restaurant should be shut down, especially in raw salad.

I think Shuwei was most disappointed at how the manager handle the whole situation. No class

and stop giving the restaurant 4 star boost, it is shameful

Bug in my salad! Insufficient compensation and poor handling of the situation...I wouldn't go there if I were you...

I'm not new to China, so while I am extremely unhappy about the situation that happened today, I am not surprised in any way. I was in a group of 3, and about 10 minutes after my friend's meals came and they started eating (my food did not come), I started to hear 3 waitresses arguing about who was responsible for forgetting to enter my food order into the system. After 10 minutes of arguing, they bring me out a salad (I had ordered a pork and mushroom dish - number 88 on the menu). Ten minutes later (about 40 minutes after we had originally ordered), I tell them that it's too late and I don't want my food anymore, but sure enough soon after that they brought out my food. I told the manager that because I waited about 40 minutes for my food, I would only eat it if it was for free. She thought about it and then decided not to give it to me, and proceeded to take the food away. She'd rather waste my meal and throw it away than give it to me for free. As I'm finishing my salad, I notice that something in the salad is moving - and sure enough it was a little caterpillar, which was very visible. We called over the manager who offered us a 10% discount. We argued with her and told her that we did not want to pay any money for the food, but that my friends would pay for the beer they ordered. She wouldn't accept that, and then continued to argue with us for about 5 minutes longer. We refused to budge and then she went to the cash register and looked at it for a long time, talked with her fellow co-workers, and didn't come back to our table for a while. Eventually my friends went up to her and offered to pay about 75% of the bill. We walked out of there in disgust...I will not be going back there for a very long time. My co-workers and I are good customers of this place and go there often, but not anymore...

Enjoyable experience

I went here for a late lunch at 4pm on Sunday with a friend. There were only 3 other people in the restaurant, all of whom were sitting outside, but they still had the aircon turned on inside which was a pleasant temperature. The staff were attentive and helpful, the waitress poured our German beers correctly and she asked to confirm her pronunciation of "schnitzel" showing some proactive self training - unusual amongst wait staff but appreciated. The schnitzel was tasty and the potatos done to perfection. Overall a very enjoyable experience and no problems getting a printed receipt at the end. Would recommend this place and also go back.

Don't bother

A tiny plate of miserable leaves and 1 1/2 cherry tomatoes constituted an RMB 22 salad which should be served as a side without extra charge. The potato salad served with the sausages was unbearably sweet to the extent of being inedible and the well past-its-sell by date, fermented-tasting ketchup topped off a pathetic and disappointing meal. This was explained by the waiter with nothing more than a sniff of the ketchup and a shrug of the shoulders. Don't bother.

Love it

I happen this restaurant by chance. I was looking for some food after some grocery shopping and boy! was i surprised. I didn't have extensive knowledge of german food. i know they make killer sausages and saurkraut. I actually order the rib-eye steak and I have to say it's the best I've tasted so far. We have been here several times and we were never disappointed with anything we order. The portions are quite big and fulfilling. I have been recommeding this place to all my acquintances here ever since.
