Schindler's Tankstelle 申德勒加油站
Schindler's Ritan Park branch serves some of the most authentic German food in town - great sausages, grilled meat, oven roasted pork knuckle, fresh sauerkraut and more, as well as imported German beer (Wernesgruner on draft). Prices are moderate, and the Tankstelle’s airy outdoor terrace offers an idyllic view of Ritan Park.

Good beer and big portions
I am from Germany in when i arrived in Beijing i couldn't believe there are more than one german restaurant in the city. I miss german food from time to time and tried the Tankstelle and Drei Kronen. Both restaurants offer great beer but the food and also the location of Drei Kronen are way better. The Tankstelle looks more like a lunchroom in a factory. I tried a Schnitzel and it was way to fatty for my taste. The prices a low for the big portions you get. Prices and the beer are the reason why a give 3 stars.

Love the "Tiegelwurst"
To Tom:
The "Tiegelwurst" is my favourite dish at Schindlers, but really too heavy and fatty for this season. I have to admit it really looks disgusting, my gf calls it "Puke".
Recommend you to sit in their small beergarden under the large, shady trees and enjoy the cold cuts platter and a Hefeweizen! If you close your eyes you can nearly imagine yourself sitting in a Munich beergarden....

Nice waitress, shame about the wurst
So I ordered the blutwurst and liverwurst with potatoes and sauerkraut, and got two piles of mush ... with potatoes and sauerkraut. I was all like, "where's the wurst, lady?" so the waitress very kindly changed my order to fried bratwurst and mash instead. But... On my return to the world of Wikipedia, it seems a wurst, or sausage, is defined as seasoned and ground meat and doesn't have to come all cased-up and wiener-like. Sorry, Schindler's, my mistake. On the other hand, who wants to eat blood and liver flavored mush? I mean, come on. And it did take you quite a long time to serve us. There is a moral (or lesson) in this tale, summed up by the German saying, "Er will immer eine Extrawurst gebraten haben". It means "he always wants a special sausage roasted for him" to express that someone wants something out of the ordinary. Thing is, all I wanted was something ordinary, and felt I'd got something out of the ordinary, but, in fact, what I had was ordinary all along.
Be good to yourselves. And each other.

Prooooost!
It's a nice place to hang out with friends in the afternoon of warmer days and cool down with nice beer. With the background of Ritan Park, it is amazing how peaceful it feels.

Still going strong
Been going here on and off for years and went this past weekend for the first time in a while. Was happy to see that the general quality has not slipped - the bratwurst, omelette, roast pork knuckle and spinach were all excellent, and the reasonably priced erdinger was spot on. My daughter loves their dark bread and our party of six (including two tots) managed to scarf just about everything down (save for the last bit of the pork knuckle). Am looking forward to eating on the terrace again in the spring.

Good food, louzy service
Real good German food at decent prices and big portions. Beergarden one of the best in Beijing. The draft German beer is always fresh, never any problems.
Only problem is the disorganized (but friendly!) service but still 4 Stars since it's often just funny to see them struggling with the bill and all the other facts more than compensate for this.

Fill me up
The Food portions are just incredible. I don't know of any other places (western of course) in the city where you can get this full on only few tens of RMB.
Of course i always opt for their beef options (not many on the menu, afterall it's a German place) and i've never been dissapointed.
When you wash it down with the Franziskaner Dunkel Beer, it just makes for an amazingly filling adventure.

Great Food and great Music
I love going to Schindler's for hearty plates of Meat (ah.. feels like at home) and wash it down with their beer.
I like the Filipino band, because i think they are not like a regular filipino bands in the City. The guitarist is great and the singer is nice.
Still one of the best beer meat/beer places in the City

2 reasons to go: Meat and Beer
simply put, when you are in the mood for plates of meat and potatoes rinsed down with beer, this is the place to go. Vegetarians and teetotalers should run screaming

Schindlers Tankstelle
As a big fan of German food I like this place. The food is great value and fans of Bratwurst can get a big plate for 40 yuan.with Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. German beer is always excellent and on a hot day you cant beat a nice Weizen ( wheat beer) although its not cheap you do get a great taste experience
For those with deeper pockets you can go the non sausage route as German food is a lot more variable than the cliched sausages. Bread is always good as well. I looked on the wine list and discovered no German Riesling which seems absurd in this type of restaurant.
The beer garden is also a very nice place to relax on a hot summer evening.
PS If you are with Chinese females you may try salads soups or some other stuff as Bratwurst and Schnitzels may generally be considered more popular with the guys. German noodles are nice and so are the asparagus dishes.
I think this place is worth a 5 , I only wish you could get happy hour on the imported beers as I get so fed up with chinese beer ( not bad but not as good as quality imports)
