This place is horrifying. You have to arrive at about 7am to get a ticket to get seen - queues are already about 15-20 mins long, full of scalpers - get there by 9 and they'll have all gone. Is it beyond the ingenuity of the Chinese nation to make an appointment system?? There is not enough seating for those waiting, no care for the dignity of patients, and the demeanour of a minority of the nurses is downright substandard. I have had the misfortune of having to attend this place numerous times in the past year and have hated it every single time.

The healthcare available seems to be adequate, to be fair, but the means of acquiring services, the difficulty of doing so, the contempt towards patients, and the profusion of goddamn beggars make this a thoroughly depressing experience.

This place is a friggin' nightmare. Every single problem with the Chinese health care system encapsulated in one location. I tried getting a consultation on my rather serious sinus problem here recently because I hear this is the place to go for eye/ear/nose and throat. I couldn't even get a gua hao 挂号 number from the hospital, because they apparently sell all the good numbers to scalpers first thing in the morning.
