Zen (Intercontinental) 采蝶轩

Part of the internationally renowned franchise based out of Hong Kong (and with branches at the Holiday Inn Central Plaza and Ch'ienmen 23), the Intercontinental's Zen "reinvents the dynasty look with golden opulent tones" and serves traditional Cantonese cuisine devised by Chef Mark Ko from Hong Kong. Signature dishes include Braised Shark’s Fin with fresh Crab meat, Sweeten Double-boiled Imperial Bird’s Nest soup, Japanese “Gi Pin” premier Abalone and Deep-fried King Prawn with ‘Thai’ sauce. Watch the chefs in action in the 360-degree open kitchen and enjoy teas served in a traditional ceremony.

High class dim sum in intimate environment

Review of Zen (Intercontinental)
3

Zen serves high-class dim sum in dining room that is smaller and more subdued than most places of its type, giving it an intimacy absent elsewhere. The centerpiece of the dining room is the glassed-in kitchen where chefs prepare dishes under the watchful eye of the patrons that surround them. We booked a private room, which was elegant except for the fact that the one we had ("Xi") shared a door with the noisy dishwashing room, which marred the experience. Our bill for 4 adults and 2 children came in at over at a whopping RMB 1000 -- though two items on the menu (fresh-squeezed apple juice at RMB 180 and a soup of the day at over RMB 100) accounted for nearly a third of the bill.
