Preppie, Hippie, Skater, Grunge: Ciao Clothes Them All
A rusting Vespa is parked squarely amongst the clothing racks, asserting the store’s Italian influence.
That, however, is where the Italomania ends. Hyper-bright Levi’s jeans (from RMB 350) and A&F shorts, worn Converse sneakers (RMB 160) and decorative California license plates all scream “USA.” And not just any version of America, either, but a cheeky mix of its rocker, prep, hippie, grunge and skateboarder subcultures.
The skinny corduroy pants, retro midi dresses and vintage typewriters will appease the hipsters; the band tees, chains and rose-and-skull patterned shirts will incite the punks; and the girly flip-flops and bright rolls of H&M socks will thrill the teenyboppers. No group is neglected, not even children – a small area is devoted to apparel by Kids Play. Perhaps the owner’s wish is for the manifold styles to inspire one another and eventually overlap. What can we say? It’s working.
Must buy: Levi’s vintage denim (RMB 350)
Also try: Tiger Vintage, Underground Kidz
Ciao
