MULU Opens NASI AH MA in Sanlitun

Just over a year ago, MULU opened up Malaysian restaurant Laksa Queen, and now they've opened another new restaurant: NASI AH MA. Located in Xingfucun, just around the corner from Jing-A, the cozy new spot is a Malaysian nasi campur concept where rice is served with an array of side dishes. The way it works is you order an Ah Ma's Basic (RMB 18), which includes rice topped with curry sauce, a sunny-side up egg, and seasonal vegetables, and then add on a dish from the counter for an additional RMB 20. Alternatively, you can choose one of the pre-selected Ah Ma meal combinations like Nasi Kari Ayam (RMB 58), Ah Ma Basic, Chicken Curry and Lok Lok; or the Nasi Rendang (RMB 68), Ah Ma Basic, Beef Rendang and Wing Berempah. 

Each day, the counter has six to eight types of dishes to choose from, and the menu is seasonal with daily and weekly specials. If you want to sample a few different things, then a great option is the Ah Ma's Big (RMB 138), which includes the Ah Ma Basic plus six dishes. Besides the nasi, they also have Sarawak Laksa Kway Teow (RMB 48), Beef Ball Kway Teow Soup (RMB 48) and a range of sides like Uncle's Chicken Satay (RMB 5), Wing Berempah (RMB 10) and Lok Lok (RMB 8). New Texas BBQ Joint PIGNUT Now in Soft Opening

PIGNUT BARBECUE has just opened up by WAB, on the same strip that's home to a variety of other restaurants like Slider Nation, Pie Squared and Hatsune. The team behind the restaurant has traveled extensively across the US, learning from renowned pit masters to perfect the craft of authentic American barbecue. Currently in soft opening, they have classic offerings like pulled pork, beef brisket and spare ribs, along with a range of burgers, tacos, appetizers and sides. 

For those wanting to try a few things, they've got a Texas Classic Platter (RMB 148) and a PIGNUT Party Platter (RMB 698). As we are always excited about new burgers here at the Beijinger, we find the sound of The Double Burger (RMB 78), which is topped with pulled pork and beef brisket, particularly enticing. During the soft opening period, PIGNUT is offering 20 percent off everything from now until Jul 20.

New Bar WITH Opens in 798

A new bar called WITH, short for With Listening Bar, has recently opened up in the 798 Arts District. It's a craft cocktail bar that has a focus on music, complete with DJ decks where they will regularly have live performances. On the cocktail front, they have a mix of classic cocktails like Gin & Tonics (RMB 58) and Mojitos (RMB 58), as well as signature concoctions such as an Umami Mocha Tonic (RMB 78), WITH Vinyl (RMB 98) and WITH Daisies (RMB 78). Aside from cocktails, they've also got beers, wine, coffee and soft drinks.

Indonesian Gourmet Festival at The Balcony

The Balcony at the Grand Hyatt at Oriental Plaza has just launched an Indonesian Gourmet Festival, which will run until Jul 23. Guest chefs Densi and Chandra from the Grand Hyatt Jakarta have curated a special array of authentic Indonesian dishes to enjoy, including Gado-Gado, Soto Ayam, Nasi Goreng Jawa, Assorted Sambal, Rendang Beef and more. These can be enjoyed either as a Dinner Buffet (RMB 488), available Wed-Sat, 5.30pm-9pm, or as a Lunch Set Menu (RMB 128), available Mon-Sun, 11.30am-2.30pm. You can read more about the event here.

Tangled's Official Opening Party is Tonight (Jul 10)

We recently wrote about the new pasta bar Tangled opening up in Beixinqiao, and today (Jul 10), they are having their official opening party! Kicking off from when they open at 6pm, they've got special offers on drinks with wines, beer and cocktails for RMB 30-60 per glass, and all bottles of wine will be 20 percent off.
