Fall Fast-Fashion: Berries, Knits and Ladylike Leather

Summer sales are over and the fall lines are in stock. Unless you have deep designer pockets, you're probably counting on fast-fashion shops to give your cold-season look a bit of style. Here's what's in store for the fall and winter.

Get ready to blush. If there's one color that's really taking off on the runways, it's burgundy. Colors are the easiest way to update your wardrobe and chances are you already have some items that fit the color bill. Most shops we've checked out are filled with an assortment of deep berry hues.

Some designers veered close to dowdy with their fall lines; mainstream shops won't be going that far, but they will offer you plenty of options for those grandma-style hand-knit sweaters that still look fashionable. Wrap up in a knit shawl for even more contemporary styling.

Also expect very feminine flourishes. Lace continues to be big, like last year, but this time around, it's getting paired with leather.

For even more leathery looks, check out the "Get the Look" column in our September issue, online at Issuu.com tomorrow and on the streets next week.
