Death By Donut: Skippy Dies With Paul Murray
Late last month, the Beijinger team took on The Bookworm Literary Festival to see who could down the most donuts in honor of Irish author Paul Murray's second novel, Skippy Dies. Murray's tale has a donut-eating contest between two young friends, Skippy and Ruprecht, within the first few pages. If you haven't read it yet, we will spoil it for you: Skippy dies.
Lucky for us, we managed to persevere with little more than rumbling stomachs.
Come by The Bookworm tonight to hear Paul Murray speak about the dark comedy of his book that has been longlisted for the 2010 Booker Prize. Unfortunately, there won't be any donut eating tonight, but we consider hearing from this humorist a pretty great treat.
