Talking Pints: Beware of the Keg Egg and Slow Boat Goes Cool

Work Hard, Play Hard

Are you ready for burgers? Tomorrow is what we've dubbed Burger Day as the Beijinger hosts its inaugural Burger Festival at BCIS from 4-9pm on Saturday (Aug 17). Get full of patties then post a ballot for the best burger in town. Find out all you need to know about the competition so far here.

Plenty of other stuff going on too. 京A will have their shiny new Keg Egg out and around town. The Wine Republic are hosting a fine wine tasting at d lounge tonight (Aug 16) between 8 and 10pm (RMB 140).

Haze already has plans for when it opens again in a few weeks. On September 18, they'll welcome German DJ Michael Mayer to town to preside over their reopening bash.

In other news, Lush will be celebrating its 10th birthday with a bash at the Wudaokou spot on October 18. The sleak Cicada Ultralounge in Taikoo Li North is soft-open and has arranged some special events in September.

Slow Boat is planning to roll out a selection of new ales starting September 1. Among them will be the crowd-sourced beer they unveiled in conjunction with the Beijinger last year. Brewer Chandler Jurinka says the grog "turned out to be super popular. So we’re bringing it back after months of pleading from customers."

Fear not, good slow boaters, the 8.5% ABV Sea Anchor Imperial Vanilla Stout will be back soon. Also, Slow Boat has gone cool, having upgraded the equipment at all their stockists, guaranteeing the same taste regardless of where you drink their beer.
