China's Priciest Lot Sold in Beijing For Billions

Luxury housing in Beijing just got more luxurious.

A holding company bought China's most expensive plot of land, according to Bloomberg News, and what's being called the world's most expensive bed is now being marketed to Beijingers, according to a recent report on Caijing. What do you get when you combine the two?

A lot worth more than RMB 4.3 billion.

Housing prices rose last month "by the most since December," even despite government efforts to put limits on purchases and China's slowing economy, Bloomberg reported. This particular lot in the National Agricultural Exhibition Center is expected to sell properties that go for more than RMB 200,000 per square meter, which could contribute to the 81 percent increase in the number of apartments that are going for more than RMB 10 million compared to last year.

Seems that just as housing is costing more, so are some furnishings. The bed is one of the 60 available from British Label Savoir Beds' latest collection. It was reported earlier this summer that a Chinese consumer was the first to buy one for about RMB 1.2 million, and he requested that it be upholstered in red silk.
