Talking Threads: The Hub, Plus Looking Back at NY Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week has come and gone, but that's no reason to miss out on this rundown of Chinese designers who were on the A/W 2014 runway. The World of Chinese outlined who's who, referencing the ol' "Made in China" phrase as one that is taking on a new, more positive meaning as an increasing number of talented Chinese designers gain international attention. Meanwhile, Jing Daily reported that American fashion labels are rushing to catch up with European brands in the race to market to China, changing up their strategies to catch the attention of Chinese buyers. More on that here.

Speaking of brands breaking into the Asian market, Beijing designers like Zhang Chi are heading south next week for the second gathering of THE HUB tradeshow in Hong Kong from Feb 25-27. THE HUB connects labels, retail executives and buyers from all over the world to create opportunities for foreign brands to break into Asia, for Asian brands to become more widespread, or, in the case of young Chinese designers, help brands team up with buyers and shops in and out of China. To get an idea of what brands you just might see on sale here in the near future, see this list of registered brands which include Juma Studio and Swedish-born sunglasses brand Dienastie. You may have seen Dienastie at one of their Migas parties last summer, and now they're doing a colorful collaboration with THE HUB.
