Dan Deacon to Vibe Out Mao Live, Misfits & Rocky Erickson Cover Bands on Halloween

Almost as good as Santa Claus, Dan Deacon is coming to town. This modern day synth wizard, known for his day glow pop tunes, and weirdo style has Beijing on the brain. Split Works have confirmed that this classically trained player of other worldly modern music will have a gig at Mao Livehouse on Dec 6 (RMB 140, RMB (120 advance)). If you have never experienced what this amazing performer has to offer, we recommend checking out some of his gnarly live show below.

He is all about incorporating audience participation in his live shows, whether it be through creating on the spot synchronized choreography for his songs or using his iPhone app (Wham City Lights) that creates crowd sourced ambient lighting effects that synch up to his songs. Make sure not to miss out on this unique freak fest when he comes to town.

In other news, don't miss out on some great cover band action at Temple Bar on Halloween. Just like the past two Halloweens, The Beijing Misfits (much better in my opinion that the Beijing Beatles) will be giving all of you TV casualties something real to fear on this exciting night of horrors.

They will be joined by The Bastards of Imperialism, who will be imparting some of the creature comforts of Rocky Erickson with such classic songs as Two Headed Dog and Night of the Vampire. For those of you not in the know Rocky Erickson was the front man of the classic Texas psych rock band 13th Floor Elevators, who after years of being institutionalized returned to the world of rock n roll a haunted mind filled with the nightmares of mental illness. Not to be missed.
