EAT: Free-Flow Brunch at Migas Mercado, All-You-Can-Eat Uruguayan Beef, Mosto Goes Vegan

It's safe to say that nothing says "Beijing weekend" like free-flow sparkling wine, which is likely why the good people at Migas Mercado have given us an option to do just that. For RMB 168, you get free-flow red and white sangria, Bloody Marys, Cava, red and white house wine, and soft drinks. We also appreciate that they've included the option to add an extra hour of free-flow drinks for RMB 68 because, let's be honest, if you've been drinking for two hours already it can be pretty hard to stop.

Don't fear, sustenance is also available in the form of Spanish classics such as Spanish omelet or gambas al ajillo, creative dishes like avocado cannelloni stuffed with crab salad or slow-cooked eggs with cauliflower textures and caviar, and big sharing dishes such as seafood paella, fish casserole, or whole roasted chicken. See the full menu in this WeChat post. Note that the brunch menu is à la carte and is available from 11.30am-2.30pm on weekends.

If you're a fan of beef then you'll want to clear your diary on Aug 19, as Casti Beef and Beijing Experience are teaming up to put on an Uruguayan beef extravaganza. Held at the rooftop bar at Vue Hotel, a fabulous design hotel overlooking Houhai, the event includes a two-hour buffet featuring different cuts and preparations of premium Uruguayan beef, as well as live Uruguayan Candombe music by Tatita Marquez. The event price includes a welcome drink and other drinks will be available to purchase. Presale tickets are RMB 250; add WeChat ID castibeef to pay and secure your place.

Right at the other end of the spectrum of carnivorousness, Mosto has just launched a new vegan menu. Catering for herbivores and the herbivore-curious, the menu features fun, creative vegan dishes like an appetizer of aubergine mousse, their must-try tofu ravioli (pictured above), and a sweet berry crumble dessert. Mosto have always been great supporters of vegetarian/vegan diners, and we're happy to see more restaurants in Beijing introducing dedicated meat-free menus.

Finally, if you're feeling woozy from all that overindulgence, you can continue the snacking without the guilt courtesy of the two newest items from Tribe's snack range. Both their Powerful Vegan Protein Bar (RMB 20 for 60g, RMB 28 for 90g) and Bikini Brownie (RMB 18) are designed specifically for pre- and post-workout munchies or simply as a light afternoon pick-me-up at your desk. We are particular fans of the vegan bar which is a chewy mix of organic pea protein powder, rice crispies, almonds, peanuts, and rice syrup covered in a rich layer of chocolate. Okay, we'd be lying if we didn't feel just a bit guilty. Both are available now via Tribe's online mobile store here.
