Tsinghua 2019 Spring Festival Gala
Even if your family is far away, on Chinese New Year's Eve you won't be alone at Tsinghua. Faculty, campus service staff, and fellow students will be your New Year Family on this special night. The Gala has excellent programs and even a secret show ready, including an opportunity to make dumplings and have dinner with your university leaders. What's more, it has a Lucky Draw and Red Packets in the spirit of Chinese New Year. After dinner, watch the CCTV Spring Festival Gala together at C Building 308 and ring in the Year of the Pig! Claim your free tickets on Feb 2 and Feb 3, from 3-5pm at the office of the Tsinghua School League Committee. Free. 7pm-late.Tingtao Yuan Dining Hall, Tsinghua University.

Skate among China’s brightest young minds at Peking University
Carve up the ice at PKU's famous No Name Lake (未名湖 Wèi míng hú), a short walk from the campus’ east gate. The lake isn’t huge, but it’s located under a charming little pagoda that looks ancient, yet was only built in the 1920s. Enjoy the fun and festive spirit as students, kids, young couples and quirky professors all share the ice together. From 3-5pm daily, there’s a mass skating lesson (Mandarin only) for newbies that makes for a curious sight in itself. RMB 5 per hour (student price), RMB 20 per hour (regular price), RMB 100 deposit for skates. 9am-7pm. Peking University's No Name Lake Ice Skating rink.

I Was Born Free: 60 Years of Liu Shaohui's Art
This exhibition can be seen as a comprehensive presentation of the 60 years of the artist Liu Shaohui’s career. The seven sections of “Folk Magic”, “Line Drawing of Everything in the Nature”, “The Brave Soul in Rain Forest”, “The Energy of Stone”, “Civilization Variant”, “Unworldly Rule” and “Animated Movie” represented his diversified explorations in the art world, and his numerous global influences. Despite the fact that the exhibition is a solo exhibition, it is also reflects the development of Chinese contemporary art as a whole. RMB 20. 9am-5pm. Tsinghua University Art Museum.

Vision and Reflection: Photographs of China in the 19th Century from the Loewentheil Collection
This exhibition brings together 120 selected works by the leading figures in nineteenth-century photography in China, including the first visiting photographers and the earliest Chinese masters.Photographic art transports us through time and distance with an immediacy transcending the written word. It allows us to visit the people, places, and events of the past and offers a precise view of otherwise inaccessible people and places. This exhibition of original photographic art created in China captures the architecture of its historic cities, the monuments of revered ancestors, the faces of China's diverse peoples, and the legendary beauty of China, from its rivers to its mountains, from the Great Wall to the Forbidden City. RMB 20. 9am-5pm. Tsinghua University Art Museum.
