Hot & Spicy 2020 Postponed in Light of Latest COVID-19 Outbreak

In light of the resurgence of COVID-19 cases over the weekend, it's with heavy hearts that we must announce the postponement of Hot & Spicy Festival, due to take place at Galaxy Soho on Jun 25-27, until later this summer.

Having just booked our final booth at the end of last week, everything was falling into place for what was supposed to be a celebration of normalcy returning to the city and a way for us to blow off steam through the convivial act of stupidly spicy food.

Unfortunately, the latest outbreak at Fengtai's Xinfadi wholesale food market not only renders the approval for such a largescale event unlikely, but it would simply be irresponsible for us to push ahead with it. What's more, Beijing's food providers, restaurants, and businesses, including many if not all of those lined up to attend the event over Dragon Boat Festival weekend, stand to be significantly affected by the closure of Xinfadi market – reported to supply the capital with up to 90 percent of its fresh produce – and the knock-on effect that will have.

Ticket refunds and vendor info for Hot & Spicy 2020

  1. We are working to secure a new date for the festival later in the year, dependent on how the COVID-19 situation develops;
  2. All tickets that have already been purchased for the event will be returned in full within the next 10 days. If you have any queries, please contact marketing@truerun.com;
  3. If you are a vendor and would like to speak to us about the postponement or are interested in taking part in Hot & Spicy once it is rescheduled, please contact sales@truerun.com.

For now, we're hoping to reschedule the event for late-July or early-August. Until then, be safe, Beijing, and watch this space for a new date!
