Slow Boat IPA week

Celebrating all things I-P-A, Slow Boat is busy brewing liters upon liters of the good stuff in preparation for their annual Indian Pale Ale week. For seven whole days and at all of their venues, they'll offer pints of each of their hoppy numbers for RMB 30 each day plus 10-percent-off burger pairings, Aug 24-30, including Feeling Your Oats Cream IPA and Lao Thai Thai (Monday), Stranded Abroad Sour Hazy Guava IPA and The Anxiety (Tuesday), Murder Hornets Forest IPA and Mourning the Morning (Wednesday), Widowmaker Brux Brut IPA & Dongsi Doufu (Thursday), Moon Jelly Clear NE IPA and the Classic (Friday), Monkey’s Fist IPA and the Fryburger (Saturday), and Monkey’s Fist Imperial IPA and Hooper's Revenge (Sunday).

On top of that, they'll host a flight tasting and brewer Q&A on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at their newest brewpub in Maizidian. For RMB 150, you'll get a guided IPA flight tasting through seven of their IPAs, a brewery tour, and a full pour of your choice. Then on Aug 29-30, they'll hold an all-you-can-drink brunch at their Maizidian brewpub for RMB 188. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Moon Jelly may be the best IPA in Beijing, if not China, so these guys know what's up.

Jing-A Longfusi one year anniversary

On Sunday, Aug 23, join Jing-A Longfusi for their one year anniversary. They're marking the occasion with a blowout crawfish boil and all-day happy hour. Head over between 4-7pm for their seafood feast, backed by the heavyweight of crawfish and Guijie staple Huda, plus RMB 35 pours on selected beer throughout the day.

Guest shift at Superfly

Finally, on Thursday, head to The Opposite House's Superfly for a masterclass in mixology courtesy of Satoshi, bar manager of Shanghai's esteemed The Odd Couple. Having been mixing up a storm for nine years, he now brings his prowess to Beijing for one night only, 8-11pm. He'll be using Peddlers, China's first gin throughout, making the most of its Sichuan pepper, Buddha's hand, and lotus leaf-infused varieties. If you can't make it and have yet to try Superfly's modern take on Sichuan food, go sample their beer and dumpling pairing on Mondays instead.
